Moore is a bit of tweener when projecting for the next level; he lacks the size at this time to project well at defensive end or the laterally fluidity that impresses you when playing in space. Could be falling under the radar as a result, but there is no denying this kid is a productive football player with good upside and athleticism when projecting for the college level. We feel he will make the move to outside 'backer in college with his current measurables. Tall and rangy but his long body should explode with bulk when he attacks a fulltime college weight-training program. Despite his lack of great size he shows raw upper-body strength and good explosiveness from his hips locking out and thrusting blocker upright. Will be a bit of an adjustment to slide back to OLB but he pursues and attacks well vertically and does a good job separating and keeping defenders off his body with his long arms and strong hand technique. Displays good get-off and initial quicks. A fast-twitched athlete that should get a great jump to the football from his linebacker spot once he adjusts to reading and diagnosing the play from that depth. Shows above average bend, flexibility and pass-rush technique off the edge which should make him an effective blitzer in college, particularly with his quick, explosive first step. We do have concerns about his ability to mirror quicker skill players in space on both run and pass support. Could struggle sifting through the wash as well; tends to move a bit stiff laterally and loses a bit in transition when redirecting. If he gets engaged with bigger, stronger blockers he could have trouble getting free and can get engulfed at the point of attack which is why he should not be at DE fulltime. Overall, Moore might be a bit of a project at outside 'backer but certainly has some promise. Could continue to physically develop and stay at end; a more natural position for him. Good, tough football player who is worth taking a shot on.

Toney Moore, King’s Academy, LB/TE Moore will be a staple in Craig Dobson’s multiple I-formation offense as a tight end, and showed it with three catches for 39 yards in the Lions’ spring game. But his real value is at linebacker, where he has BCS coaches drooling. “Believe me, he is the real thing,” a Division I coach told the Post. His first offer came from Syracuse, but Moore (6-2, 215) also is considering USC, LSU, Oregon, Texas and Oklahoma among his favorites.
