'10 PA WR Andrew Carswell (Pittsburgh Verbal)

'10 PA WR Andrew Carswell

Wide Receiver
McKees Rocks (PA) Sto Rox

Ht: 6-foot-4
Wt: 200 lbs
Class: 2010 (High School)

Keystone Recruiting

8/4

Quote:
The second is the main target for Jones, 6’4 1/2” 200 pound wide receiver ANDREW CARSWELL.

“He has good speed and the excellent size, obviously,” says Ruscitto, “but his main asset is his football smarts. He really knows how to play the game. A lot of players have all the physical talent, but they don’t know how to play. That’s not the case with Andrew.”

None of the rising juniors can receive written offers until September, but Jones and Carswell already have verbal offers from Pitt, where they both excelled at a recent summer camp, and Jones also has an offer from Cincinnati. There will be many more for both.

Jones claims to be wide open and when asked what he’s looking for in a college, he only says, “Education and where I can play the fastest.”

Jones and Carswell are friends and that also may come into play, according to Jones, who says, “Andrew and I are definitely going to play together in college.”

Beaver Falls' coming out party - Pittsburgh Tribune-Review

Quote:
Pitt makes offers

Pitt has made offers to four high school juniors in its continuing quest to lock down the Western Pennsylvania football market.

The players are: Sto-Rox quarterback Paul Jones and wide receiver Andrew Carswell, Fox Chapel offensive lineman Miles Dieffenbach, 6-4, 275, and Clairton wide receiver Kevin Weatherspoon.

Jones has completed 39 of 57 passes for 708 yards and eight touchdowns in three games for Sto-Rox (3-0). Weatherspoon scored on a 10-yard reception and 54-yard punt return in a 48-6 victory Friday against Frazier.

11. Andrew Carswell, Sto-Rox HS (McKees Rocks) WR- Big 6'4" 200 pound receiver with great hands. Not a blazer, but he has good speed and athletic ability. Great instincts and knowledge of the position. Early offers from Pitt, N.C. State, and Duke but could really impress over the spring and summer camp circuit.

Notre Dame invades Florida for top OT - ESPN

Quote:
he played outside linebacker. The 6-4, 210-pound Carswell has started at wide receiver and outside linebacker the past two seasons.

After catching 30 passes during his sophomore season, Carswell caught 40 more passes his junior season for 600 yards and six touchdowns. He also made 56 tackles and intercepted three passes.

"My recent offers have been more for wide receiver," Carswell said. "I'm getting recruited as an athlete, wide receiver or linebacker."

Carswell has scholarship offers from Pitt, Wisconsin, Stanford, Duke, North Carolina State, Boston College and Maryland.

"I'm mostly looking at schools that have offered me," Carswell said. "My favorite team is the Florida Gators, but I haven't heard from them yet."

By Allen Wallace. Plans to attend the Pittsburgh camp during the summer as well as the PSU Nike camp on May 2nd. PSU hasn't offered, and isn't really recruiting him so he isn't thinking about PSU and isn't really looking at PSU. Talks about what he is looking for, his childhood favorite (UF), Michigan, Stanford, and plans to make unofficial visits to Maryland, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Clemson, and Vanderbilt.

Has a top three of Pitt, Michigan, and BC because they are showing the most interest. Still open to all who offered, and plans on visiting some schools on his vacation down south.

"I didn't think it was a big deal, the de-commitment," former Gopher verbal David Gilreath said. "I think this was the best decision of my life."

"(The University of Minnesota) didn't really compare," UW Kicker Taylor Mehlhaff said. "I loved the atmosphere here. It was pretty easy to cross (Minnesota) off the list. I wanted to play at the highest level possible but I also wanted to have that college atmosphere."
