'09 LA RB Eddie Lacey (Official Offer)

ESPN

Quote:
Lacey may not be overly flashy, but he is a productive downhill running back prospect with the physical tools to continue racking up yards at the next level. Great body structure for a high carry college back with his compact, thickly-built frame, particularly through his hips and lower-body. Hits the hole with good patience and vision. Shows good foot-quickness and body control making subtle cuts through traffic without losing much in transition. Lateral east-west quickness and good jump-cut skill to avoid the initial traffic and bounce it to the perimeter. Earns impressive yards after contact with his great balance, low center of gravity and body-tilt. Shoulders square up quickly out of cuts for added running power. Does not stop his feet on contact; drags the pile with great lower-body strength and finishes runs. However, he shows good but not great burst when he finds an open seam, more of a one-speed back and lacks the extra gear possessed by some of the elite runners in this class. Competitive speed in the second level but does not project to be a breakaway threat as a college back. Lacks good suddenness through the hole and tends to gear down a bit when cutting. Bottom line, Lacey could develop into a high- carry, pounding back who can wear down a defense while remaining durable and never giving you a clean shot. Good prospect.

Geismar (La. ) Dutchtown tailback Eddie Lacey, 5-11, 200, 4. 4, is another running back on Arkansas’ radar.

Rivals. com rates Lacey the No. 74 player in the nation and a four-star recruit after he rushed for 1, 800 yards as a junior. Arkansas, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Louisiana Tech are among the early schools recruiting Lacey the hardest.

Eddie Lacy’s scholarship-offer list is a long one, and he says it needs to be cut—he just doesn’t know exactly when he’ll do it. The Geismar (La.) Dutchdown RB told Sporting News Today it’s not going to be an easy task.

When schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Miami (Fla.), Florida State and Nebraska have all extended scholarship offers, as Lacy confirmed, it’s a tough call.

“I’ve been trying to think about trimming it down to a certain number of schools,” Lacy told SN Today. “I’m going to watch all the teams play this year and then I’m going to talk to my brothers and uncles about it too.”

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound Lacy said seeing his prospective schools in action will help the decision-making process more than anything. One other thing matters: “Playing time,” Lacy said. “I don’t like to sit on the bench. It doesn’t really matter to me where the school is. I just want to play and have a good time.”

Lacy is a Rivals.com Top 100 overall prospect, and is ranked the No. 8 running back in the nation. He said some coaches have told him he has a running style similar to the Minnesota Vikings’ Adrian Peterson. He rushed for 1,800 yards last year, with 26 touchdowns.

“I haven’t been to any visits yet,” Lacy said. “I’ll take my visits at the end of the year. I don’t know which ones yet.”

“LSU is a good football team. They like to spread it around. “I’ve been to their summer camp and it was OK. I’m not getting any pressure to stay in state (LSU) I’ll probably go out of state.” Lacy said

“They (Alabama) are starting to upset everyone in college football and coach Sabin is turning the program around. Alabama and Florida State are recruiting me the hardest.” Lacy said.

“I talk to coach Fisher (FSU) a couple weeks ago. They are having a hard time running the ball. I probably have a chance to come in and play early.” Lacy said

“I don’t hear much from Tennessee, Auburn and Mississippi.” Lacy added

“Coaches say I’m explosive, fast for my size and agility.” Lacy said

By B Hayes. Lacy is not focused on recruiting now, but says his top seven still includes FSU, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Southern Miss and Tennessee (offers) as well as LSU and Alabama (no offers). He will make a late decision.

By S Shipp. Lacy's coach says that Eddie is pretty much down to Ole Miss, Southern Miss and Alabama. His coach also says that if his academics are "close" he will go to Alabama who will then put him in a prep school, if not he will go to Southern Miss.
