Quote:
Saturday, February 16. 2008
Tallahassee (Fla.) Leon WR James Green picked up his first scholarship offer earlier this week when Central Florida jumped on board with a full ride for the 6-foot-4, 200-pounder. Green, a transfer from Miami Krop, also is getting attention from South Carolina. The Gamecocks have his film and are in the process of evaluating him. Florida State, North Carolina and other schools also have expressed interest in Green, an ESPN150 Watch List member for the Class of 2009.

USC Makes Offer To Florida Receiver
By Phil Kornblut
USC is one of the recent offers for WR James Green (6-4 200) of Tallahassee, FL. He also has an offer from Central Florida, and Oho State is evaluating film to decide about an offer. Green plans to visit USC this spring along with other SEC schools, Ohio State, Michigan and others. "I like Ohio State because two of my former teammates (from MIami) are up there," Green said. "They invited me up there for their spring game to take a visit and see what it is like." Green said his three favorites right now, in no order, are USC, Ohio State and Georgia. Green's uncle, Lamont Green, played at Florida State and the NFL. The Seminoles always are a factor with local talent but Green said they aren't much of a player with him right now. "Florida State, to me, they are a good program," he said. "I like to watch them play. I just can't see myself playing there (at this time)."

USC is very much in the mix for WR James Green (6-4 200) of Tallahassee. He has offers from the Gamecocks, Central Florida, Auburn and Minnesota. He's also getting interest from Ohio State, Florida and Rutgers. Green said the Gamecocks are very active with their recruiting of him. "I hear from coach (Shane) Beamer about once a week," Green said. "The first think I'm looking for is academics, and then football. It doesn't matter to me about early playing time. I want to major in criminology." Green visited Florida, Central Florida and North Carolina last season, and he has been to junior days at Auburn and Florida State. He said he might attend spring games at USC, Florida State and Central Florida. He does not have a favorite. Playing for Krop High School in Miami last season, Green had 29 catches for 496 yards and seven touchdowns.

WR James Green (6-4 200) of Tallahassee keeps in touch regularly with USC recruiter Shane Beamer, and Green is feeling strongly about the Gamecocks right now. "I call coach Beamer once a week and ask him how he's doing," Green said. "And I ask him how the receivers are doing up there. He talks to me about the school and the atmosphere around South Carolina. I like South Carolina a lot. If I had a favorite, it most likely would be South Carolina." WR James Green (6-4 200) of Tallahassee is still on the market after pulling back a commitment to Auburn according to a source familiar with his recruiting. Green apparently had given Auburn a pledge but quickly withdrew it and is continuing to weigh his options. He has offers from Auburn, USC, Central Florida, Minnesota, Syracuse, Iowa State and Ole Miss.

From the South Carolina site. Green says that South Carolina and Auburn stand out to him. He and teammate Andrew Carter have talked about playing together at the next level, and will both decide during their season.

By Y Porter. Green says that South Carolina and South Florida now lead. He doesn't want to go too far from home.
