By S. Robertson. Maimi has offered at CB, while Mississippi State, Central Florida, and USF have all offered at WR. He will wait until after his season to make his choice.

By M Bakas. Reid is up to 14 offers, but says he is mostly interested in Miami and South Florida. He said that if he decides to play defense, Miami will be the place for him. Academics and coaching will be important factors.

From the UCF site. Reid talks about his interest in UCF, and says he will probably decide near NLOID. He is being recruited for offense by some schools and defense by others, but doesn't care which side of the ball he plays on.

ESPN - Don't sleep on these guys - Football Recruiting
Quote:
The University of Miami is onto athlete Jamal Reid (Mayo, Fla./Lafayette). However, none of the other recruiting powers appear to be pressing. Sorry to let the cat out of the bag, Randy Shannon, but this kid may be one of the best kept secrets in the country.
Perhaps it's because he plays in one of the smaller divisions in the state of Florida, or that he shines more as a total athlete at this point than a positional prospect. Either way, this kid fits into former Pro Bowl wide receiver Cris Carter's mold of "all he does is catch touchdowns." Whether it's as a wide receiver, defensive back or return specialist, Reid is a threat to score every time he touches the ball and is worthy of his 102 national ranking. Although he's not overly explosive, he flashes great top-end speed, is smooth and fluid in all of his movement skills and has some of the better ball skills in this entire class. Reid is a big-time playmaker on any level in our opinion and should continue to see his recruiting stock soar as more people judge his pure talent, not his competition.

ESPN - Southeast Recruiting Blog
Quote:
ESPNU 150 athlete Jamal Reid (Mayo, Fla./Lafayette) says ACC schools Miami and Clemson currently are recruiting him the hardest and he intends to start scheduling official visits following the completion of his season.
Recruiting coordinator and defensive line coach Clint Hurtt has led the charge for the Canes.
"I've been thinking about (Miami) pretty hard," Reid said. "If I had a leader right now, they would be it. I was supposed to go to their game against Florida (Sept. 6 in Gainesville) but did not make it over there. I thought that Miami looked good, though."
Receivers coach Dabo Swinney is recruiting Reid for the Tigers.
"He's always telling me that if I would come up there, that I am guaranteed to like it," Reid said. "He also says that they need players like me and that I could play if I come up there."
Reid, who could play receiver or safety in college, also has heard from Louisville, North Carolina State, South Florida, Central Florida and Troy since Sept. 1, when college coaches were able to start making phone calls to prospects.
The season has started well for Reid; he has four touchdowns in two games.

SportingNews.com - The Recruitnik - Four-star athlete chooses Miami, Fla.
Quote:
Mayo (Fla.) Lafayette athlete Jamal Reid has chosen Miami, Fla., his high school coach told Sporting News Today. The 6-foot-0, 175-pound player is rated a four-star prospect by Scout.com.
Reid chose the Hurricanes over reported scholarship offers from Clemson, South Carolina, Maryland, Ole Miss and South Florida.
"He's been super productive for us," Lafayette coach Joey Pearson told SN Today. "Offensively and defensively, he's going to be a career leader for us in almost every category. He does it all. He's not a big talker, but he's a great player."
Pearson went on to say that the Miami commitment didn't shock him, as the Hurricanes were the first to offer a scholarship to Reid. He said most of the Miami coaching staff sent hand-written letters each week.
"I thought he might wait a little longer, but I thought it would be Miami," Pearson said. "Florida has been recruiting him, they even called early this week, but they hadn't offered yet. I also think Miami was the first to offer him as a defensive back, and I think he really wants to play DB in college, especially after Miami showed him the list of DBs they've had that went on to play professionally."
As a junior, Reid had more than 1,000 yards receiving and 15 touchdowns, and he intercepted 10 passes on defense.
