Bulls Report - Brett McMurphy Sports - from TBO.com Blogs
Quote:
Tallahassee Florida High offensive lineman John McGhin said Tuesday night he plans to sign with the Bulls on National Signing Day. He becomes the fourth area player to commit to USF for the Class of 2009, joining Marianna tailback Bradley Battles, North Florida Christian linebacker Chase Griffiths and Leon receiver James Green.
“They were the first to offer me,” said McGhin, a 6-foot-5, 280-pound tackle. “I’ve taken several trips down there and every time I go down there it just gets better and better. I love the environment. I love the fact it’s an up-and-coming team. I can’t find anything bad about it.”
Florida High coach Jared Hickman said the Bulls are getting “a pretty darn good player.”
“He’s been a three-year starter at left tackle,” Hickman said. “Very athletic. He can pass block, run block and really do it all. He’s a very intelligent guy who loves the game.”
McGhin said he will let his USF coaches decide where to play him on the line, saying he’s worked at tackle and guard before.
“I played a little center just playing around one day,” McGhin said. “But I think I’m getting pretty good at it.”
McGhin said he has received new scholarship offers as his senior season has progressed. He said Vanderbilt, Marshall, Indiana, Iowa State and others have recently offered him.
“I really wanted to stay in-state,” McGhin said.
