DE Leon Mackey (6-6 260) of Hargrave Prep, VA committed to Clemson Monday night during an in home visit with Tiger head coach Dabo Swinney. Mackey becomes the 11th commitment for the Tigers. "That's the school for me," Mackey said. "I felt like Clemson is the best fit for me." Mackey is a Deleware native who was committed to Virginia Tech but backed off that pledge about midway thru the season. He also had offers from Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, North Carolina, NC State, Tennessee and Arkansas.

DE Leon Mackey (6-6 260) of Hargrave Prep, VA committed to USC Sunday during his official visit with the Gamecocks. He becomes the 28th commitment for the Gamecocks and the second of the weekend. Mackey is a native of Delaware who signed with Virginia Tech out of high school. He did not qualify and enrolled at Hargrave. He committed to Clemson in early January, but according to a source, Mackey was never denied admission to Virginia Tech and was never given a release from his national letter. The Hokies would not release him to sign with another ACC school. USC quickly moved in on him and brought him in for an official visit Saturday night. Georgia and LSU apparently were two other schools trying to get involved.

USC defensive lineman signee Leon Mackey will enroll at Hinds Junior College in Mississippi with the hopes of resigning with the Gamecocks following the 2010 season. USC placed Mackey in ithe junior college and should get the first chance to resign him. Mackey, who attended Hargrave Prep in Virginia last season, was not approved for eligiblity by the NCAA Clearinghouse.
