ESPNU 150 Watch List running back Marcus Lattimore has trimmed his list of over two dozen scholarship offers to eight schools and Penn State has made the cut.
“I have a list of eight schools,” Lattimore told Nittany Network. “It’s down to Alabama, Penn State, Auburn, Florida State, Clemson, South Carolina, North Carolina and Maryland.”

Scout.com: Marcus Lattimore names final five
8/1
By Andrew Bone. Marcus has his final 5 and says those won't change - Oregon, PSU, UNC, Auburn, and South Carolina. Will take all five officials, two of which will take place in October, during his season - October 10th to PSU and October 31st to Oregon. Plans to deal with recruiting after the season as he is focused on his senior season and winning a state championship.

ESPNU 150 running back Marcus Lattimore from Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes visited Penn State for the first time a week ago. It was a visit Lattimore had been looking forward to and he was not disappointed.
“I had a good time,” Lattimore said. “I finally got to meet all the coaches. I saw the facilities and met some players. But the academics stood out the most. If you get a degree from Penn State it means a lot. I talked to a couple academic leaders. They were real passionate about the academics there.”
Of course, Joe Paterno was on hand while Lattimore was in State College and spent time with the star back.

By Chris Nee. Marcus talks about FSU and their offensive scheme...says it is true that FSU is back in the picture and that he initiated contact. Marcus says the probation is what got FSU eliminated, and goes in detail about how he misunderstood the penalties and entire situation for FSU. Set up an official to FSU for October 10th against GT, and had to move some others around...October 31st will now be Auburn rather then Oregon....November 7th Marcus will attend the PSU-Ohio State game.

Scout.com: Big changes for Lattimore (FREE)
9/14/09
By Chad Simmons. FREE.........
Quote:
There are always surprises in recruiting and Marcus Lattimore dropped a couple on Scout.com Monday night. Everyone thought he was just cruising along with his final five, but that wasn't the case.
Marcus Lattimore is the premier running back in the country. He has offers from just about every major BCS program from coast to coast. He has been going through the process for years and he will be signing papers with the school of his choice the first Wednesday in February of 2010.
What looked like a five team race has now been expanded to seven.
Auburn, North Carolina, Oregon, Penn State, and South Carolina are still in it, but Lattimore has put Florida State and Georgia back on his list.

Lattimore updates schedule -

Sept. 29, 2009
Running back Marcus Lattimore from Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes, the No. 10 prospect on the ESPNU 150, remains one of the key targets as Joe Paterno tries to round out what is already a super 2010 recruiting class.
Lattimore visited Penn State in early August. At that time he said he narrowed his list of approximately 30 scholarship offers down to five schools, Penn State, Oregon, South Carolina, Auburn and North Carolina.
However, Lattimore’s list has grown slightly.
“It’s seven now,” Lattimore said. “It’s Oregon, Penn State, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Auburn and Florida State.”

Recruiting: Marcus Lattimore Update - AthlonSports.com
Quote:
When the subject turned to recruiting, Lattimore mentioned he has narrowed his list of schools down to a handful, including Auburn, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Official visits are coming up at Auburn and Penn State, October 31th and November 6th respectively, and a trip to Oregon after the U.S. Army All-American Bowl January 9th in San Antonio, Texas. Lattimore also stated that how a team uses their backs, who the coaches are, and the running back depth chart will serve as big factors is his decision. When pressed on the possibilities of Penn State, he told me that they “aren’t about one player, it’s about the team, and that they have a tradition.”
That is what has drawn him there. Playing in Duncan, S.C., its easy to see why that tradition would be such an intriguing draw. After all, the Byrnes High School Rebels have an amazing tradition of their own, as they continue to march toward a third straight — and tenth overall — South Carolina state title.
Oh yeah, one last thing. When asked when we would all know about his college choice, Lattimore said it would be on “Signing Day.” It appears there will be five very anxious universities, coaching staffs and fan bases until the first Wednesday in Febuary.

By Sean Fitz. Marcus talks extensively about his official to PSU....comments that you can't win them all and says he got to watch the RBs warm up...says he could see himself at PSU, that it reminds him of Byrnes with academics first and being all about the team. Marcus rates the visit a 10 and talks about the current PSU RBs and how he sees things unfolding if he were to come in with PSU commit Silas Redd.
