Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes running back and ESPNU 150 Watch List prospect Marcus Lattimore pared his list of over two dozen scholarship offers to eight schools several days ago and Penn State made the cut.
The star back plans to visit Penn State in late June. When Lattimore arrives in State College, he won’t be alone.
Though the Nittany Lions have not offered a scholarship to Lattimore’s teammate, Nick Jones, they are interested and Jones will visit Penn State with Lattimore.

Scout.com: Starting to Blow Up?
7/21
By Allen Wallace. Still claiming scholarship offers from South Carolina, Michigan, Georgia Southern, and North Illinois...hearing a lot from PSU, Auburn, and North Carolina...thinks PSU is real close to offering and that it will happen when he visits this month. Talks about USC, WVU, and Michigan...might wait and see who offers then decide in December.

He said he would be accompanied by two of his teammates: wide receiver Nick Jones and linebacker Creighton Frost.
The three made it to State College, though they arrived one day late.
“We all went,” Jones said. “We got there on Friday morning and left on Saturday morning.”
Jones did not go home unimpressed.

Scout.com: Nick Jones talks Auburn offer
8/17
By Andrew Bone. Nick talks about Byrnes practices and upcoming scrimmages...says he did dislocate his shoulder and will sit out this week even though he could play. Wants to help his team win a state title and wants to improve on all of the little things as a player. Auburn has offered and says it may be a good fit for him because Byrnes and Auburn run similar offenses...has yet to talk with the coaches because their busy and he is too. No favorites, waiting to see if other schools offer...North Carolina, Florida State, Kansas, and Florida all want to see his first few games as a senior before coming to a decision.

Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes running back Marcus Lattimore, the No. 10 prospect on the ESPNU 150, is set to make an official visit to Penn State the weekend of Oct. 10 when the Nittany Lions play Eastern Illinois.
Lattimore may be accompanied by Byrnes teammate Nick Jones.
“I think me and Marcus are going to Penn State Oct. 10,” Jones said. “I would probably make it an official visit.”
Jones, who visited Penn State with Lattimore at the end of July, hopes to soon begin scheduling his official visits.
“I’m looking at South Carolina, Auburn, Michigan and Penn State,” Jones said. “All of them except Penn State have offered (a scholarship).”
