USC Pushing Hard For Jeffery
By Phil Kornblut
Calhoun County WR Alshon Jeffery (6-3 217) says USC is recruiting him the hardest at this point. "I talk to coach (Shane) Beamer and he's telling me about the best players in South Carolina staying in South Carolina," Jeffery said. Jeffery has not been to any junior days because his basketball team is still playing in the state tournament, but he will go to Tennessee this Sunday with his teammate ATH David Sims (6-0 208). Jeffery has offers from USC, Alabama, Kentucky, North Carolina and Tennessee. He said Southern Cal is close to offering and Clemson appears close to offering for football and basketball. He's also getting interest from Georgia and Notre Dame. Jeffery has basketball offers from Kentucky and Tennessee. He does not have a favorite. Last season Jeffery caught 32 passes for 910 yards and 14 touchdowns. And this basketball season he's averaging 20 points, seven rebounds and 5 assists per game.

Jeffrey Heading West
By Phil Kornblut
Southern Cal has been the favorite of WR Alshon Jeffrey (6-3 217) of Calhoun County for some time, and Monday night Jeffrey cemented those feelings by committing to Trojans head coach Pete Carroll. "Alshon loved Southern Cal from day one," said a source familiar with Jeffrey's recruiting. "When they got his film three months ago, they loved him then and he got a verbal. Southern Cal had to wait on his grades since their admission standards are higher. Their receivers coach visited Calhoun County and moved Alshon to number one of his list ahead of five others. That's when they really turned up the heat. Last week they requested his transcript, and he had made all A's and B's. That's when they really went after him. When we were at Alabama this weekend, when we were about to leave, he called coach Carroll and he went ahead and committed. Carroll talked to him for about 45 minutes. His family issue, it's a not a big deal about him being away. He doesn't care about that. It's a business decision for him. He's thinking about who is going to better prepare him for the NFL." Jeffrey also has offers from USC, Clemson, Alabama, Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, NC State, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, and Oregon. He will visit Southern Cal June 24th.

Calhoun County WR Alshon Jeffrey (6-3 217), who committed to Southern Cal earlier in the summer, to a Southern Cal fan website he's now 50-50 on the commitment. "USC (Southern Cal) is a great school, man," Jeffrey told USCFootball.com. "I love them Trojans, but we'll have to wait and see what happens on Signing Day." Jeffrey said he's not lined up any official visits at this point. He's planning to take one to Southern Cal over the Christmas break. Some of Jeffrey's other offers are USC, Tennessee, Florida, Florida State and Alabama.

Jeffrey Will Take In USC Game Saturday
By Phil Kornblut
WR Alshon Jeffrey (6-3 217) of Calhoun County said he will be at USC Saturday night for the LSU game. This will be his third unofficial visit to USC for a game this season. Jeffrey has been committed to Southern Cal since the summer, and he said he's "95 percent" committed to the Trojans. But he said he will set official visits with USC and Kentucky. He's not sure if he'll visit Clemson. Jeffrey said no other schools are factors right now. "I talk to Southern Cal every week," he said. "They keep me posted on everything going on, and they ask me how school is going and they're trying to keep up with my season. Coach Beamer (USC) and I talk like every week. I'll call him or he'll call me." Jeffrey said he will be watching the Gamecock offense closely Saturday night. "I want to see how the quarterback position does," he said. "I want to see how the quarterback develops." The question remains as to whether Jeffrey will stick with his commitment to Southern Cal all the way to the end. Right now, he can't answer that. "I don't know," he said. "It's just coming down to Signing Day. With everything going on, coaches getting fired, Bowden getting fired, anything can happen." Jeffrey said teammates Davis Sims (Kentucky commitment) and junior defensive back David Watson, brother of Tennessee cornerback DeAngelo Willingham, will join him in Columbia for the game.

WR Alshon Jeffery (6-3 217) of Calhoun County is struggling with his decision. Jeffery is trying to pick between USC, Tennessee and Southern Cal. He and his family were deliberating Monday night. "I think he knows where he wants to go but everybody in the family isn't agreeing," a source familiar with the situation said Monday night. "He claimed he came to an agreement today but he's flip-flopped too much in the last 48 hours. He keeps flip-flopping." Jeffery plans to announce his choice Wednesday morning though the source added it is possible Jeffery could go past Signing Day.
