Perry coach: 'Bama, Gators ahead of UGA for star OG | Football recruiting | ajc.com
Quote:
Based on Perry coach Andy Scott’s description of his junior guard, there’s little reason to wonder why schools such Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, South Carolina and Tennessee have extended scholarship offers to Johnnie Farms.
“He’s just a dominating offensive lineman who will maul a defensive lineman,” Scott said. “He squats over 500 pounds, benches around 400 and is a physical specimen. He can physically dominate people.
“He has got a tremendous motor. He plays hard, from snap to the echo of the whistle.”
The Crimson Tide and Gators appear to be the co-favorites to score a commitment from Farms.
“I think there’s a good amount of interest [in the Dogs] with him being a Georgia boy, but if I had to say right now it would come down to Alabama and Florida,” Scott said.
The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Farms will likely wait until the fall to commit.
“I think he enjoys the recruiting process,” Scott said. “I think he wants to make the absolute best decision he can. He studies it, looks at internet sites and looks at depth charts.
“He’s gone through just about every junior day and gone to a lot of unofficial visits. He even took an unofficial visit to Notre Dame.
“It will be a shock to me if he didn’t wait until September or October to commit. He’s already marked his calendar. There are quite a few good football games he wants to see first before he makes a decision.”

OL Johnnie Farms (6-3 310) of Perry, GA spent last week participating in camps at USC and Alabama. He will go to a camp at North Carolina Friday, and he'll make an unofficial visit to Auburn Saturday. Farms time at USC was his first visit to the school. "I really liked South Carolina," he said. "I talked to the weight coach, and to coach Gillespie and coach Hunt." Farms, who has 38 offers, said he has legitimate interest in all the schools that have offered and is working on narrowing his list by the end of his season. Clemson also is an offer and he's visited there three times. Farms said Florida and Alabama are recruiting him the hardest.

By A Bone. Auburn, UCF, FSU, South Carolina and Tennessee have been recruiting Parks hard lately, while Alabama and Florida haven't been in contact recently. He has no favorites.

How It Went: Perry OG Farms views season openers on TV | College recruiting | ajc.com
Quote:
Perry guard Johnnie Farms, one of the top uncommitted recruits in Georgia, spent part of his Saturday working the television remote.
“I wasn’t really surprised that Alabama beat Clemson like that,” said Farms, referencing the Crimson Tide’s 34-10 victory over the Tigers in the Georgia Dome.
Farms, who said his favorites are Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU and South Carolina, will start making visits next weekend.
“I’m going to the Miami-Florida game [on Sept. 6th], the Georgia-South Carolina game on the 13th and the LSU-Auburn game [on Sept. 20th].”
Florida could gain ground on Farms this weekend over Auburn, the program considered the favorite to score a commitment from the 6-foot-2, 280 pound guard.
“I’ve been [to Gainesville] several times and [Florida coach] Urban Meyer has been to my school a couple of times,” Farms said.
“I really like Florida.”

Perry's Johnnie Farms commits to South Carolina after Alabama fills up | College recruiting | ajc.com
Quote:
Perry offensive lineman Johnnie Farms, who is an AJC Super 11 selection, committed to South Carolina on Monday night.
The Gamecocks were actually the second choice for Farms, who tried to commit to Alabama a few days earlier. However, Farms said the Crimson Tide coaches told him that they were “full” at his position.
“It was very upsetting that it did not work out with Alabama,” Farms said. “I had to move on, and South Carolina is where I want to be. I’m excited about going there. And they are excited about having me.”
The 6-foot-3, 290-pound Farms said he talked on the phone with South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier on Monday night. He also generated interest from Auburn and Florida.
Farms said he learned about South Carolina from two trips to the SEC school - summer prospect camp and the Georgia-South Carolina game. He will play offensive guard in college.
“It’s a big relief to get recruiting over with, takes a lot of pressure off me,” Farms said.
