Northwest's Eagan Delays Decision -- Courant.com

Quote:
The 6-foot-4, 235-pound defensive end said he needs another week to decide.

"I'm just not ready," said Eagan, whose father, Mike, played at Northwest and Boston College. "With two great schools, it's just tough figuring out which one is the best for me. They're both good opportunities for me. Football is important. But also academically, I'm trying to figure out where I would be most comfortable. Hopefully it won't take too much longer. I just want to get this over with."

Eagan was offered a scholarship by UConn coach Randy Edsall in early December. Rutgers came into the picture later and Eagan visited the New Jersey school last weekend.

Edsall made it sound Wednesday as if UConn might no longer be an option for Eagan. Edsall could not comment directly on the recruitment of Eagan, but he said after announcing his class of 22 incoming freshmen that he didn't expect any additions.

"I think we're where we need to be," Edsall said. "I don't see us adding anybody. There's no other offers out there pending."

Golic Sr. praised Eagan, saying UConn or Rutgers will get a quality recruit.

"Eagan is an excellent player; he can play Division I without a doubt," Golic Sr. said. "He has a motor that doesn't stop. He's so much fun to watch. He's tough as heck. There's always a transition period in terms of getting on the field, but with special teams you won't be able to keep him off the field [in college]. He's a bit of a psycho, a lot of fun to watch play."

Egan, a 6-4, 235-pounder, was a late signee from Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford, Conn., who apparently had a change of heart about playing college football.
