Eight interceptions as a freshman free safety is impressive and so is the fact that next year, Terrell Chestnut will also start at quarterback.
“He looks like a senior playing out there,” Pottsgrove head coach Rick Pennypacker said.
For his efforts, Chestnut was named to the Pennsylvania 3A All-State team, a feat extremely rare for freshmen.
Pennypacker said that he does not like to tout players, but believed that Chestnut would be a big time Division I-A recruit by the time he’s a senior.

Just a small sample of what Terrell can do on the football field.

Scout.com: Pottsgrove Pitches Shutout (FREE)
Quote:

Quarterback Terrell Chestnut was easily the MVP of the game, leading the first-team offense to five touchdowns in the first three quarters. By the time Coach Pennypacker put in his second team the score was already 32-0. Chestnut had a few dazzling runs on the wet grass, carrying the ball nine times for 139 yards and four touchdowns. He only threw two passes, but completed both of them for 33 yards. He did fumble once, however he then forced a fumble on the defensive side of the ball to go along with his many tackles.

Scout.com: Honored to Receiver Offer
9/28/09
By Matt Alkire. Terrell says he is really excited about the PSU offer, and shocked that he was offered this early....says it is a great honor because PSU is a great school, has great tradition, and great coaches. Talks about the last time he visited PSU, coach Mike McQueary and coach Joe Paterno....while he couldn't make it for the Iowa game with Maika, he'll attend the Minnesota or Ohio State game, if not both.

Penn State hot on Chestnut -
9/30/09
Quote:
By Bill Kurelic, NN Recruiting Analyst

Sept. 30, 2009
Pottstown (Pa.) Pottsgrove running back and defensive back Maika Polamalu, one of the Keystone State’s top juniors, attended the Penn State-Iowa game. The Nittany Lions also invited Polamalu’s teammate, Terrell Chestnut.
“I was supposed to go, but I wasn’t able to,” Chestnut said. “But I’m going to the Ohio State and Minnesota games.”
The 5-foot-11 and 175-pound Chestnut, like Polamalu, is one of the state’s top juniors. He has been a varsity starter since his freshman year, when he played cornerback and safety.
Chestnut – an ESPNU 150 Watch List prospect - played quarterback and safety his sophomore season. He completed 43 of 79 passes for 935 yards and eight touchdowns. Chestnut also carried the ball 163 times for 1,226 yards and 21 touchdowns. On defense, Chestnut made 90 tackles and intercepted two passes.
