Mississippi Scout

One of Florida's top defensive linemen has not attended any camps this summer but that has not stopped the college recruiters from taking notice.
"I think I am going to the LSU and Auburn camps later this month, but I am not sure yet," added Corey Gaines "I have been offered so far by Arkansas, Auburn, Colorado, Iowa State, Ole Miss, and South Florida. Central Florida, Tennessee, and Rutgers are my latest scholarship offers. They offered me this summer."

ESPN - Nico Johnson could follow form and stay in-state - Football Recruiting
Quote:
Two-way lineman Corey Gaines (Tallahassee, Fla./Godby) says Iowa State is recruiting him the hardest at this time. He had an official visit set up for Sept. 6 to Ames but had to push that back. According to Gaines, the Cyclones coaches are trying to decide what side of the ball to play him on.
"(Iowa State recruiter and defensive coordinator) Wayne Bolt tells me that he wants me on defense, but he says other coaches want me on offense," Gaines said. "I told him that I would play anywhere."
Tennessee, Auburn, Rutgers, Tulane, Central Florida and South Florida also have been showing interest in Gaines.

OL/DL Corey Gaines (6-1 275) of Tallahassee, FL does not have an offer from Clemson yet but according to one of his high school coaches has maintained contact with his Tiger recruiter. Coach McFarland of Godby High says that Gaines is a great talent who can play both sides of the ball. "He is our best defensive lineman but he plays on the offensive line because our need is greater there. When we need him, he plays defense as well." McFarland says that Gaines plans to announce his commitment at the U.S. Army All-American game played on January 3rd, 2009 in San Antonio, TX. Gaines has offers from Auburn, Tennessee, Rutgers, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Iowa State, Central Florida, South Florida as well as several other schools. His coach says he believes that Gaines has narrowed his list to ten but did not know which ten. According to his coach, Gaines has a mean streak and is a very skilled run blocker with great technique. He is also very quick for his size and runs a 4.7 40.
