Bruce is an athletic offensive tackle that is making an impressive transition from defense to offense. He has great size and can develop into an exceptional offensive lineman. Even though he is still learning the ropes and technical skills as a tackle, he has gifted athletic ability. Strongest part of the game is in pass protection. Long arms and fast feet make him nearly impossible to get around when he demonstrates patience. Great balance and lower body flexibility. Sometimes gets a little anxious and lunges at pass rusher resulting in being over extended. When anchored down and more in control of body, looks like a big time player. Excellent mobility and agility; gets to second level with ease and shows athleticism getting downfield and when pulling. Displays strength in the upper body and is physical when run blocking but needs to work at sustaining blocks; tends to let up after initial movement at the point of attack. Needs to learn how to be a finisher in the run game. Brown has all the tools to excel as an offensive tackle. He will be a very productive offensive lineman with another year of experience under his belt. It will be tough to find a more athletic player up front.

Another top uncommitted prospect for Rice’s Trojans is offensive tackle Shauntez Bruce. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound lineman is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com. Rice said Nebraska and Arkansas have been communicating with Bruce quite a bit lately.

“I know Coach (Bo) Pelini is very high on him,” Rice told SN Today. “He’s very similar to Jawanza, as far as college interest.Shaun’s getting a lot of letters here at the school, and a lot of schools are contacting him. We’re going to sit down and try to kind of look at his situation soon.”

Bruce also reports scholarship offers from Florida State, Ole Miss, Wisconsin, South Carolina and South Florida, among others.
