TE Malcolm Bush (6-5 235) of Hackensack, NJ has a verbal offer from Clemson which he hopes to turn into an official offer in May when recruiter Billy Napier comes up for a visit. "He wants to work me out one on one," Bush said. "He wants to make sure I can catch the football." Bush caught 17 balls for 277 yards and two touchdowns last season. He visited Clemson for the spring game and talked with Napier and Tommy Bowden. He also attended the Rutgers spring game and will go to a one day camp at Florida June 8th to work out for the tight ends coach. Bush has a written offer from Connecticut and verbal offers from Clemson, Florida and Rutgers. Ohio State and Boston College also have been showing interest.

Down to RU, Florida, and Tennessee (and possibly UNC). Will decide within two weeks. Almost decided last weekend.
It would be a major upset if Bush does not verbal to Rutgers soon.

NorthJersey.com: providing local news, sports and classifieds for Northern New Jersey!
Quote:
Malcolm Bush decided rather quickly that there really is no place like home.
That’s why the Hackensack senior tight end decided to spurn several other scholarship offers and verbally commit to Rutgers last week. If he’s going to make a name for himself in college football, Bush wants it to be in his own backyard.
“It’s a great fit,” Bush said. “A perfect fit. From the offense they run to the whole camaraderie in the locker room to the location. When I visited there, I felt comfortable right away.
“If I go someplace else and do well, when I leave they might say, ‘Remember that kid from Jersey?’ But at Rutgers, they’ll remember me forever if I do what I’m capable of doing.”
Bush had offers from North Carolina, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Iowa, Syracuse and North Carolina State. His biggest asset, according to Hackensack coach Mike Miello, is his athleticism, especially since his 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame is ready to start filling out.
“I think my strengths right now are basically my size and my ability,” Bush said. “At tight end, you can flex me out and match me up with a corner or a safety. But if you match me with a linebacker, I’ll have a real advantage with speed.”
A tight end is always a focal point in a Miello offense, so this could turn out to be a real showcase season for Bush. He may also see some time at quarterback as the Comets try to rebuild their offense that averaged 11.8 points last season.
“I’ll play tight end in college, but for now, I’ll play wherever the team needs me so that we can make this a better team,” said Bush, who plans to major in sports management at Rutgers.
Bush is spending a lot of time in the weight room, and he’s anxious to be part of a Hackensack revival this season. The Comets have had three straight losing seasons, including 2-8 last season.
If Bush seems particularly comfortable with his decision, it may be also because he has made this kind of choice before. He spent his freshman year at Don Bosco and gave thought to attending Queen of Peace or Paramus Catholic before taking his father’s advice and choosing Hackensack.
“It was a good decision,” Bush said. “So far, it’s panned out great.”
