Recently, we caught up with 2009 linebacker prospect
Jordan Whiting from Louisville (Kentucky) Trinity. At this early stage, Jordan is one of the top junior linebackers in the country. Here's what Jordan had to say about a number of topics, including Buckeye football:
1. What are your current "measurables" (height, weight, forty time, etc.)?
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 226 lbs
Forty: 4.61 Secs.
Shuttle: 4.19 Secs.
Bench Max: 360 lbs/ 18 Reps @ 225 lbs/ 30 Reps @ 150 lbs/ 24 Reps @ 185 lbs

Power Cleans: 260 lbs
Dead lift: 610 lbs
2. What were your "stats" (tackles, sacks, interceptions, etc.) from last football season?
Truthfully I'm really not sure. I plan on keeping up with them for this year for sure.
3. You are generally considered to be one of the top prospects for the class of 2009. What schools are recruiting you right now? Do you have any verbal offers yet?
Ohio State University, Notre Dame, and the University of Kentucky are the schools recruiting me as of now. I have not yet made a verbal commitment as of now either.
4. Which schools are you most interested in? Do you have a "dream school"?
The schools I am most interested in are; Ohio State University (Definitely), University of Tennessee, and Notre Dame. My "Dream School" is Ohio State University every since I was in the 8th grade.
5. When you think of Ohio State football, what comes to mind?
When I think of THE Ohio State University I think of a highly successful school in academics as well as athletics.
6. What goals have you set for yourself personally and for your team this season?
Personally I have set the goal to average 10 tackles, 2 sacks, and 2 interceptions a game this season. As for my team, I have set the ultimate goal of helping my team go undefeated and winning our 18th State Championship.
7. When your career is over, how would you like people to remember Jordan Whiting?
I would like to be remembered as the meanest guy on the field and the biggest Teddy Bear off the field.
8. If you were analyzing yourself on film, what would you list as your strengths and what areas still need some work?
My strengths would be reading the running back and pursuing the football with quickness and speed. On the reverse side, I believe areas I think I need improvement would be my read step and preventing easy inside routes while in pass coverage.
9. I know it's still very early, but what position do you see yourself playing in college? Are you a middle linebacker all the way?
Any position that's needed for my school of choice, but I would highly prefer MLB.
10. Who are some of your favorite football players, either college or pro? Do you have any particular role models on the football field?
A.J. Hawk and Ray Lewis are my favorite football players because of their nose for the ball and their attitudes on and off the field.
11. Besides football, what are some of the activities that you enjoy?
I wrestle, run track, and power lift.
12. Do you have any favorite movies? TV shows? Musical groups?
My favorite movie would have to be 300. CSI: Miami is my favorite TV show, and Lil Wayne is my favorite Music Artist.
13. Is there anything else that you'd like to tell us about Jordan Whiting?
I love kids and helping those in need. I've been raised to stay humble and realize that my God given talent can be taken away at any time. I also realize the importance of education which is quite evident of my 3.87 GPA.Thank you for giving me the opportunity to have this interview and I thank you for your support.
