Interview with Storm Timson
Interview with Storm Timson
Recently, we caught up with 2009 "athlete" prospect Storm Timson from Licking Heights High School in suburban Columbus. At this early stage, Storm appears to be one of the top juniors in the state of Ohio. Here's what Storm had to say about a number of topics, including Buckeye football:
1. What schools are you most interested in right now?
The schools I am interested in right now are mainly all D1 Ohio schools especially Ohio State. My dad is a die hard Ohio State fan and he does not like the fact that I like Michigan too. It's still kind of early in the recruiting process and I am really just getting familiar doing the combines and trying to get film together. It would be great just to get into a D1 program where I can get a good education and play big time football.
2. What football camps did you attend this summer?
I attended the Schumans underclassmen combine, University of Cincinnati, Ohio University, Verius Sports combine in Grand Rapids, University of Findlay, Ohio Northern University, and I will be going to the Purdue and Akron camps. OU and Cincinnati were the camps I feel I did best at. There were a few camps I was a little disappointed in the results, but I am continually trying to improve on my combine techiques. I felt good about all the 1 on 1 drills.
3. Can you give us an update on your "stats" - height, weight, forty time, etc.?
The best stats I have accomplished so far this summer: 4.59 40 yard dash, 30" vertical, 9 ft broad jump, 4.38 shuttle, 15 reps of 185 lbs., 255 max bench, 405 max squat, height is 5-foot-10, weight is 178 lbs
4. When you think of Ohio State football, what comes to mind?
When I think about Ohio State football, I think about the rivalry with Michigan and the great players they have had.
5. What position would you prefer to play in college and why?
I would like to play running back or strong safety in college. I like running back because I like having the opportunity to make something big happen, and strong safety because I love to hit. I also like returning kicks because of the chance to make things happen.
6. What goals have you set for yourself personally and for your team this season?
My personal goals are to be able to improve in my game overall, whether it is my speed, quickness, strength , or knowledge of the game. I would like to be able to help my team gain some respect within the league and the state. I think we have a very good shot at being a playoff team this year.
7. When your career is over, how would you like people to remember Storm Timson?
I would like people to remember me as a good leader and team player that played the game to it's full potential.
8. If you were analyzing yourself on film, what would you list as your strengths and what areas still need some work?
Strengths would be my speed and quickness both on offense and defense, getting into right formations, and knowing my assignments. I still need work in coverage skills, and not being overly aggressive.
9. What are some of your favorite things to do away from football?
Working out, running track, hanging out with my friends, going to the movies, stuff like that.
10. "Storm" is an interesting first name. Is there a story behind that name?
I was born the same day my father was returning home from Desert Storm, and it was a stormy night so that's why my grandmother suggested I be named Storm.
