Camden doesn't have as much size as in recent years. Its starting lineup usually includes Walton, Walls and Pitts, along with 6-2 Tyree Watkins and 6-4 Terrell Harper. Hubert Simmons (no relation to Garry), a 6-foot freshman, has also made some starts, and he reached double figures in consecutive games recently.

Apparently, Virginia’s decision to air out its offense is catching on.

The Cavaliers landed three pass-catching recruits today during their annual Blue Chip Recruit Day.

Kevin Royal, a wideout from Brunswick High in Greenwich, Conn., Tyree Watkins, a wideout/safety from Camden, N.J., and Paul Freedman, a tight end from Catholic High in Clearwater, Fla., became the 13th, 14th and 15th commitments, respectively, for the Class of 2009.

Camden (N.J.) High three-star wide receiver Tyree Watkins still considers himself a Virginia commitment, but things could change following the season. Watkins will take an official visit to Virginia in November, then reassess the situation with his parents before deciding if he wants to take visits to other schools or stick with his original plans. Several schools are still in contact with Watkins, including West Virginia, Miami, Pittsburgh, Connecticut, Stanford, Arizona State, Minnesota and Penn State.
