Above all else, productivity is the one thing that counts in the end when it comes to quarterbacks and while Drew Allen may look awkward at times, the end result is generally positive. You can see that he is going to be a late bloomer with solid height and the need to add bulk and strength. He appears to be much more effective and comfortable working from the shotgun and throws with more authority as well. Has good feet and is a deceptive athlete with enough pocket movement to side step the rush, buy a second passing chance and even tuck the ball and run. He is definitely at his best in the short-to-intermediate areas of the field which is where his arm is bets suited for success. Has decent arm strength, but not great and is more of a touch and timing passer. Throws a soft ball and shows good accuracy underneath. Is not a guy that is going to fire the ball into some tiny seams, but when on time can be very effective. Throws adequately on the move, but lacks the zip and power to throw across his body or off balance. While Allen does move the chains, he is a guy that needs to work on setting his feet, stepping into his throws and getting more power on the ball as a result. Throws off his back foot a lot. Pushes the ball a bit and his delivery gives the appearance that he is trying to "aim" the ball instead of unleashing it. Overall, Allen is a competent pocket passer that with continued development could become an asset and viable candidate down the road.

Texas A&M football commit takes look at Baylor
Quote:
Overall, the second of three Baylor mini-camps in Waco attracted some of the state’s top talent.
At the top of the quarterback list was Drew Allen of San Antonio Alama Heights, who threw for 2,431 yards and 12 touchdowns last season in leading the Mules to a 10-2 record and the Class 4A region finals. He’s rated the 12th-best pro-style quarterback in the country and No. 3 in Texas.
