Former St. Edward standout Kyle Hubbard has decided he would rather play college basketball at Cleveland State than football at the University of Pittsburgh.

Hubbard signed a football national letter-of-intent earlier this year with Pittsburgh, and he worked out with the Panthers for five weeks after graduating from St. Edward in June. Hubbard requested and obtained his release from Pittsburgh in mid-July. He then contacted the Cleveland State basketball program, which had recruited him.

"I love basketball, and I wanted to play basketball for my college career," Hubbard said Tuesday. "I liked Pittsburgh. If I was going there on a basketball scholarship, maybe I'd still be there. But, I like Cleveland State, too, and my heart was in basketball."
