• Austin Gamble, SLB, 6-2, 225.
Evaluation: Having been around the game all of his life with his father being a part of the Miami Dolphins organization for a number of years, this is the kind of football player you want to be a part of your team. While he is still learning many of the mechanics, he dazzles you with his quickness and strength. This playmaker also placed in the discus and shot put at the recent state meet. He is a true run-stopper who has improved his pass defense. When he puts everything together, he could be one of the best in Florida.
College in the mix: While many others will be checking his progress out during the spring and into the summer, the University of Miami is the school he has been looking at. The position is filling up quickly with quality in Coral Gables.

Cypress Bay 'Backers bringing thunder -- South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com
Quote:
Gamble has a top three of Duke, Louisville and Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh was one of the first schools to offer Gamble and has a connection to the family. His father, John Gamble, was the strength coach for the Miami Dolphins when current Pittsburgh coach Dave Wannstedt coached the Dolphins.
Duke offered Gamble last week and the university already made an impact on Gamble, who also has offers from Mississippi State and FIU.
"I talked to the coach and I have seen them on TV, they are getting better," Gamble said. "They have a new coach and they have good academics."
Gamble might take an official visit to Louisville next weekend when it hosts Connecticut.

Palmetto golfers sweep - 10/21/2008 - MiamiHerald.com
Quote:
Duke couldn't beat UM in football last Saturday, but it won a recruiting battle for another one of the top players in the Hurricanes' backyard.
Cypress Bay linebacker Austin Gamble, who visited the Blue Devils this past weekend, decided Sunday that Duke is where he wants to play college football. The 6-1, 230-pound senior is considered the ninth-best recruit in Broward this season by The Miami Herald and a consensus Top 50 inside linebacker by Rivals and Scout.com.
''Duke is making big strides,'' Gamble said.
"They had a couple [of] seasons where they didn't win a game, but they've done a lot better, especially with some guys from down here. A lot of people say Coach [David] Cutliffe and his work ethic are going to change things. I want to be a part of it.''
Gamble said he's passing on offers from Louisville, Pittsburgh, FIU and Mississippi State because he likes the academics at Duke, too.
Gamble is the second commit from South Florida for the Blue Devils, who have five players on their current roster from Dade or Broward including quarterback Thaddeus Lewis. Gulliver Prep receiver Conner Vernon, Miami-Dade's 12th-rated recruit, is also headed to Duke. He made his official visit to Duke this weekend with Gamble.
