AlliedNews.com - Grove City, Pennsylvania - Wilmington clubs Grove City
Quote:
The only other chance came when Chris Burns fumbled a punt late in the first quarter and the ball was picked up by Ross Trinch, who ran the ball in for a touchdown, but the Eagles were whistled for hitting Burns too early.
“They said our guy ran into him,” Bell said. “That very well might have been, because I didn’t have the greatest angle on that play. If that’s what happened, that’s what happened. That would have been a nice play for us to have.”
That was the lone mistake Burns made as he rushed for 249 yards and two scores on 18 carries, while adding a 37-yard touchdown reception.

BY CORY ISENBERG
The Tribune-Democrat
ALTOONA - Bishop McCort’s stellar season came to a screeching halt on Friday night in the second half at Mansion Park against District 10 champion Wilmington.
The Crimson Crushers led 17-0 in the first half, but four Chris Burns touchdowns and one by Sutton Whiting gave the Greyhounds a 35-24 victory in the PIAA Class AA quarterfinal.

PIAA Class AA Championships: Jeannette in final; Pryor adds to repertoire
Quote:
Jeannette was leading, 21-0, but Wilmington was driving, moving to the Jeannette 6. On second-and-goal, Wilmington tried a quick halfback pass, with Chris Burns trying to hit tight end Dallas Hartman just off the line. Hartman was a little behind Pryor, but Pryor tipped the ball in the air to himself, brought it to his chest and took off down the left sideline.
Burns, a Pitt recruit, seemed to have an angle on Pryor, but Pryor raced past Burns for a 100-yard return for a touchdown.
"He's supposed to have 4.4 speed in the 40," Pryor said of Burns. "But I think I have 4.3."

And Jeannette's defense also performed admirably, even though it gave up 21 points. Burns, who came into the game with a little more than 2,000 yards rushing, was held to 93 yards on 23 carries.
"But I have a new respect for Chris Burns," Reitz said.
"I thought he ran hard. I thought he took some great shots from us. I think he's a great back."
