South Bend Tribune: Prospects flock to ND
Quote:
But prospects can go on the road, and for a number of big-name players, that road leads to Notre Dame for Sunday's aforementioned junior day. CSTV recruiting analyst Tom Lemming anticipates Notre Dame hosting in the area of 100 juniors.
A few of the players Lemming expects to visit already have ties to ND. West Hartford, Conn., tight end Jake Golic is the son of former Irish standout and current ESPN personality Mike Golic. Mike Golic Jr., an offensive lineman and Jake's older brother, signed with ND earlier this month.
Woodstock, Ill., quarterback Jon Budmayr comes from the same school -- Marian Catholic Central -- as Sean Cwynar, another member of ND's recruiting class of 2008. Cwynar already has enrolled in classes.
And Laurel, Md., defensive back Jordan Love plays at Baltimore's Gilman School. Gilman is the same school that sent Victor Abiamiri and Ambrose Wooden to Notre Dame.
Another player expected to visit this weekend, Louisville, Ky., linebacker Jordan Whiting, doesn't have any glaring ties to ND, but he does have ties to one school. He committed to Ohio State on Sept. 1.
"Any college that I talk to, I let them know up front that I've made my verbal commitment to Ohio State and a lot of coaches come to me and say that, being only a junior, they're not going to give up," Whiting recently told The (Louisville, Ky.) Courier-Journal.
"A (lot) of schools tell me I still have some time. But I've told them all up front, Ohio State is definitely where I want to go."

IMO, the best-looking CB prospect we have offered so far.
Very early to say this, but he and Travis Hawkins would make a fine pair at CB for this class.

I think this is the best DB offer we have put out. I'd like to see us get in touch with Eleanor Roosevelt, MD DB Stephon Morris, same school as Derrick Williams...if we offer DWill could he his host. I've only seen this kid play once...but I'd say he compares favorably to a smaller DB such as Cissoko. I believe he does some track stuff as well from just looking around online. 5'8 170-175. He will probably have a lot of suitors, but we can offer everything anyone else can as well as playing time at DB. AJ would only have a year left by the time Morris got on campus.
Very fluid, deceptively strong and pretty good at jamming receivers...plays the game like he loves it and it clearly shows...aggressive. I really like this kid, I hope he is at the Penn State camps/Junior days. He'd be a great pick up...has the speed, has the hands/ball skills because he returns kicks/punts and plays WR as well as DB in H.S. If anyone gets a chance to watch some tape/highlights of him I would appreciate some thoughts.
But yeah...I love these type of DBs in MD for '09. I hope we are wise enough to stay on them. I don't know if Jordan Love is coming for camps but I know he has interest in a visit...physically he has everything you could want in a corner as well. I think Morris offers the same but without the frame.

Love was on campus this weekend on an unofficial visit. One would have to assume that we are in good shape with this under-the-radar prospect.

Wouldn't be shocked if he pulled the trigger before Marrow.
EDIT: He and Marrow might pull the trigger on the same day. PSU v. Wake and will decide right after his visit on the 19th, same day Marrow goes to Illinois Spring Game.

From the Wake site. Love says that in spite of offers from largers schools, Wake is sill very high on his list. He talks about how close he is with the coaches at Wake, and how much he likes it there.

From the Louisville site. Louisville has offered, and Love says the offer puts them up near the top. Penn State and Wake Forest are in very good shape, bu he will still take visits to Tennessee and Rutgers as well before making a choice.

FWIW, PSU seems to be in very good shape with Mr. Love.
That being said, we have been here before, so TIFWIW.

From BWI...Louisville offered during his visit and he is visiting Wake this week and says despite the fact his teammate Campanaro will likely be committing he is not ready. Tennessee has also offered andis visiting them next week. Coach Bradley is going to visit him at his new school in Virginia.

Seems like our staff is putting King/DWill kind of effort into this kid. I'd love to see some video on him as highly as they must think of him.

Lex, what do you think of offering Campanaro? I saw some guys that know their stuff like him, I think it would be a smart move if it would affect Love.
