I just checked to see if he is in Larry Johnson's area around DC, but instead this kid is from around Newport News . . . like Levi Brown and Chris Bell . . . and I think Deion Walker is kinda close to there too. I can't remember who recruits there, though.

From the Virginia Tech site.

Quarterback Kevin Newsome Jr. will be one of Virginia Tech’s top priorities in the Class of 2009. The junior from Western Branch High School in Chesapeake, Va. has already grabbed a lot of headlines and should be in the spotlight for the next year.

Hopefully we will treat him as one of our top priorities. He's already been to Penn State, I'd say the thing that will put us over the top nex season is if Devlin actually does get the nod over Clark [unlikely]. If it were to happen though, our QB recruiting should be easier considering it would be like killing two birds with one stone...Clark would never get the nod while at Penn State if Devlin were to start this upcoming season.
Completely selfish on my part...but with QBs like Savage, Newsome, Forcier, etc. things are looking great. All have expressed serious interest in Penn State, and if we get 2 of the 3 it will be 2 of the better QBs that we have gotten in quite a long time. Savage is PA [keep him in PA - top priority] and Mark Wedderburn [Savage's H.S. TE/teammate] committed to us this season. And Forcier basically sought out Penn State, took it upon himself to get up here. Newsome is VA, we usually do well in VA. Obviously recruiting changes constantly, but I find it hard to believe that we won't get 2 of them... [I'll say PA Savage and one of the other 2].

You're obviously a Savage fan. If the fact that he is from PA is the main reason you want him, that is not a very logical outlook.
IMO, Penn State sees Savage as a Plan B behind Forcier and Newsome, both of whom have already received verbal offers from PSU.
I could personally care less what happens with Savage if PSU gets Forcier and Newsome.

Not necessarily a Savage fan, but I think it is fairly logical to assume that Penn State will stay in contact - whether he is plan B or not. I don't care what state the QB is from, I just know that there are a handful of talented QBs out there in this class who could definitely be headed to Penn State. My own personal opinion; since I prefer Devlin as a passer over Clark to begin with, were Devlin to start this upcoming season than the QB position at Penn State looks amazing. Nobody would be standing in the way of any '09 QB recruit, wait Devlin out and compete against each other.
I will go on record though and say it would be foolish to treat Savage as a plan B guy; he has tremendous talent. He wouldn't be a dual-threat the way Forcier/Newsome would be; and he probably doesn't have the arm Forcier has but he is intelligent/knows where to go with the football and probably has better accuracy than Forcier. In the scheme of things, I would like for us to begin picking & choosing some of the top PA talent and keeping them here. A lot of good QBs, DEs, WR/DB in PA for '09.

Is it safe to assume at this very early stage that Forcier is Plan A?

Forcier and Newsome are A1 and A2. PSU has offered both (at least verbally). My guess is that PSU has given up any real hope on scoring Pryor (but I'm sure they'll continue to recruit him) and will attempt to get one of these two to sign on.

If they strike out on Pryor, which is more than likely goning to happen, PSU will need to sign TWO QBs next year.

I'd guess (and it is just a guess) that they won't get both of these guys. Maybe Forcier & Savage(?).

The optimist in me says 25% chance of landing both.
The realist says 0%.
I'll go with a 10% chance of landing both. There's a chance, as Forcier has commented that he would be okay with it.
