When the Scout.com Top 100 list was done for the Class of 2009, Scranton, Pa., offensive lineman Eric Shrive was one of those elite players. His teammate and future Illinois tight end Hubie Graham has helped him early in the recruiting process and with three offers, Shrive should continue to flourish as Graham did over the next year.

The Times-Tribune - Irish’s Weis pays visit to W. Scranton

Charlie Weis caused quite a stir with a visit to the area this week.

Notre Dame’s football coach made a quick stop at West Scranton High School on Tuesday to visit with football coach Michael DeAntona.

During the one-hour and 30-minute meeting, the two discussed West Scranton’s 6-foot-7, 295-pound lineman Eric Shrive, who is becoming one of the top recruits in the class of 2009.

Already, the junior has offers from Notre Dame, Illinois, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Rutgers, North Carolina State and Miami.

“I’m listening to everyone and taking it all in,” Shrive said. “It’s all great and it helps you grow up and mature quickly.

“Coach DeAntona does everything for us.”
