By Bob Lichtenfels. Claiming offers from Tennessee, Illinois, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Iowa, Connecticut, Duke, Temple, and Buffalo...hearing from Miami (FL), FSU, Oregon, Kansas, Georgia, Vanderbilt, and Northwestern. Jameel visited RU in the spring and made a return trip for the Cincinnati game...had a good time while he was there. Visiting Pitt for the Syracuse game and talks about his relationship with former McDevitt/Pittsburgh RB LeSean McCoy. PSU has been recruiting him pretty hard....want to see transcripts as well as film from this season...PSU asked him to come to a game so he chose the Ohio State game to attend.

By Sean Fitz. Expecting Northwestern to offer soon as well and ND is saying he is real high on their list....both Miami (FL) and Oregon want junior film. Jameel says PSU thinks he is the best back in PA....going to try and make the Ohio State game....Jameel thinks PSU will offer once they get his junior film. Will also go to the Pitt-Syracuse game and try to get to the ND-Pitt game. Hasn't thought about recruiting, talks about the influence former McDevitt/Pitt RB LeSean McCoy has had on him, and the success of other McDevitt players at Pitt.

By Sean Fitz. Syracuse is the latest to offer. This past weekend Jameel and his parents visited PSU for the Ohio State game....thinks PSU is going to offer as soon as his film gets sent out and his coach said they'll send it out Monday, coach Larry Johnson introduced Jameel to coach Joe Paterno and they said they're real high on him. Jameel says the atmosphere was crazy and it doesn't get too much better then that. Has only been to RU and Pitt prior to this, with RU being a game day experience, so it is too early for leaders and he plans to narrow his list around the 2010 class signing day.

By Sean Fitz. Jameel says the recruiting process is going well....basically every school that has been by the school has offered....UVA came in and offered the other day. He hasn't planned anything as far as visits but may visit South Carolina because they are talking to him a lot now. Jameel will probably visit PSU after the bowl game....says PSU will be one of the top schools that he visits a lot, he gets a lot of mail from PSU and likes coach Larry Johnson....he came by the school this past week. Jameel finishes his junior campaign with 1,639 yards and 27 rushing touchdowns, as well as 24 receptions for 240 yards and 1 touchdown.

By Sean Fitz. Jameel talks about how the recruiting process is progressing for him....will be attending Pitt's Junior day on the 21st of the month....should be taking visits to USC, Cal, Alabama, WVU, VT, and PSU over the spring and says he has a lot of family around so he can make these visits. Talks about coaches such as UConn's Randy Edsall, RU's Greg Schiano, and PSU's Larry Johnson being by the school...contact with coaches is picking up as they begin to contact Jameel.

NN Recruiting Board: Running Backs - (FREE)
Quote:
|
This list, compiled by Nittany Network, is designed to mirror Penn State's own recruiting board when it comes to running backs:
|
Quote:
2. Jameel Poteat, Harrisburg (Pa.) Bishop McDevitt
Height, weight: 5-foot-10, 200-pounds
Interest in Penn State: Medium
Timetable: Top-5 or top-10 in the next few months
Joe Paterno told Poteat back in November he was high on Penn State's recruiting board, and it's easy to see why: He's the total package and one of the most sought-after running backs in the country.
He has more than 40 offers already and might be on par to break former Bishop McDevitt (and current Philadelphia Eagle) tailback LeSean McCoy's school mark of 60-plus offers.
Poteat initially wanted to form a top-5 soon after National Signing Day, but that estimate came after he had less than 20 offers. Now, Poteat said, it's probably going to be a little while before he trims his list down.
Where does Penn State stand? Well, Poteat has said numerous times his main priority is playing time. If the Lions pick up Huggins, the odds of landing Poteat definitely dip down. Landing both Poteat and Huggins would be a dream for Penn State fans and the coaching staff, but it's pretty unlikely.

Scout.com: Five-Star Back Talks Recruiting
2/18/10
By Bob Lichtenfels. USC and UF have offered, Jameel talks about each and also about the debate on whether he or NJ RB Savon Huggins is the best back in the East. Discusses how close his relationship is with Pitt and the relationship Pitt has with McDevitt....visited RU recently and discusses that visit....has had little contact with PSU recently, gives his thoughts why, and says the staff wants more film.

By Bob Lichtenfels. Jameel runs through his visit to Pitt this past weekend for a junior day event.....talks extensively about his thoughts on Pitt, his experiences throughout the weekend, and his relationship with the coaches. Looks like PSU isn't very interested.
IMO, Poteat is a solid RB (4-star), but he's not an elite RB. I know there's pressure to go after the in-state kids, but the staff isn't going to offer to please the fans.
