Good for him. I know that's what he wanted...would have been great to get him, but I think PSU will be fine with the OL class they have (plus Cadogen, most likely).

UGH! Even though it looks like we'll have a solid OL class, I really wanted this kid since he can play anywhere on the line.

Bellbrook's Longo commits to Ohio State

Sam Longo, an offensive lineman from Bellbrook High School, has verbally committed to play football at Ohio State beginning with the 2009-10 season.

Longo is the 24th player in Ohio State's 2009 recruiting class and is the third player from the Miami Valley to commit to the Buckeyes, joining Northmont defensive back C.J. Barnett and Coldwater linebacker Adam Homan.

"It's a big deal for me," Longo said today, July 7. "I cut it down to two schools (Ohio State and Penn State) and kept going back and forth.

Whoa! That's a surprise. That one update above listed 4 schools and PSU wasn't one of them, and I joked that Longo must have liked sharing with that interview instead of Dave Berk. Now it looks like he was BSing that guy a bit too.

Oh well, not that it matters, but it looks like the staff did a good enough job recruiting him to beat everyone but the home-state school.

He got the offer he wanted. I wish him luck. I think this offer is very telling to where OSU thinks its with Chris Watt. Longo will get lost in the shuffle at OSU. JMO

Three things:

1. I wonder if Longo could eventually end up on defense.

2. What does this mean for Marcus Hall? I assume they'd still make room.

3. Not that I think there's merit to it, but the idea of Watt warming to PSU has been put out there...

Based on what I have heard, look for Watt to ND soon...Hall is being considered "in" by the OSU staff. OSU looks to close with Hall and Berry and possibly one more (Corey Adams, Brandon McGee, EJ Banks and Shaquelle Evans are probably the most realistic options at this point).
