I've been watching the all-star classic between NY and NJ today. A few observations:

1. Crawford just looks huge. One of the most physically imposing players on the field.
2. He's playing RE for NJ. The NY LT is just plain overmatched. Crawford is just completely running over and through him.
3. He's pressured Legree (NY QB) into a couple early throws and scrambles now. He forced a pitch really early into an option play.
4. When NY was punting just now, Crawford couldn't hold up his momentum when the NY punter got his kick off. He ended up taking the punter out and was hit with a roughing penalty. Wasn't intentional, he should have backed off though.

There's only so much you can tell from the first 1 1/2 quarters of a HS all-star game. Crawford looks big and fast. He's done a very good job in run containment, doesn't overpursue. (scratch that slightly, he was a little out of position now when NY just scored on a run) Hasn't shown any big pass-rush moves, he doesn't really need to though and there's only so much you can do in this format.

I'll post an update later in the second half, and will also post my overall report on the game when it's finished.

another edit: My9 Live Streaming if anyone's interested.

Damn!!!! Isn't this game on MSG? I freaking miss it every year and assume it is later June or even July, I'm pissed.

EDIT: Thanks for talking about Jack's play and updating the thread.

Thanks, RU.

I hope Mr. Crawford makes the Garden State and his native England proud during his career at Penn State. We are very grateful he will be wearing the Blue and White.

Sorry, not much to report from the second half. NJ mostly dominated the time of possession, so there wasn't much of an opportunity to see NJ on defense. When NY did have the ball, the NJ front 7 handled them easily.
