Clemson recently offered TE Ethan Farmer (6-4 275) of Tabor City, NC according to his coach. Farmer also has offers from Tennessee, Virginia Tech and NC State. He's also getting interest from Maryland, North Carolina and Wake Forest. Farmer attended junior days at Clemson, Duke and North Carolina and participated n the Scout.com combine last weekend in Charlotte. According to his coach, Farmer is a very good blocker in the Wing-T offense they use. As a receiver, he's effective on drag routes across the middle and has good hands. Farmer does not have a favorite according to his coach.

I am highly skeptical that Farmer has a written offer.

as a wild guess, I was wondering if they might see him as a DE . . . though with the impending flood of commits maybe they won't have room.

Scout.com: Farmer Thinking About Visits
8/6
By Chris Horne. Ethan says he has a top five right now; Alabama, Clemson, Virginia, Tennessee, and probably NC State. Virginia Tech would be at six with North Carolina right there...says this is just right now and he is still open. Says the only school he is high on that has yet to offer is North Carolina, and he'll see what happens after a few games his senior year. Plans to make his decision on signing day and is in no hurry.

By Jamie Oaks. Ethan says he has been recruited as a tight end, defensive end, defensive tackle, and even linebacker. Says he likes Virginia and has some schools that stand out, but no leaders...the five schools he will probably take officials to are Virginia, Clemson, Tennessee, NC State, and PSU. Virginia Tech and Alabama are two schools he'd also like to see and they could slide in there.

Would we be likely to take a 2nd TE? Does Farmer translate into any other positions at the college level?

DE, and I think that's what we would recruit him to play.

By Sean Fitz. South Columbus HC Jake Fonville says Ethan doesn't have visits set yet, but he has been trying to get him to sit down and figure out the 5 schools he would like to visit. Coach talks about Ethan's top 5 and says it is always changing, but he believes it is UNC, Alabama, UVA, PSU, and Clemson. Coach says he is encouraging Ethan to visit PSU, that Ethan has family in Pennsylvania, and that he thinks Ethan would be a 1-tech DT at PSU. Talks about his impression of PSU coach Larry Johnson.
