By Bob Lichtenfels. Monroeville (PA) Gateway HC Terry Smith says Brendon will visit Pittsburgh on Thursday, and PSU on Saturday for the Blue-White spring game. Brendon currently has no offers.

Yesterday:
"Sean Fitz/BWI Staff said: I called Terry Smith today to see if anyone from Gateway would be down here this weekend, and when he returned a voicemail, he said that none of his kids would be there, as none got an invite."
TODAY, he said that Terry Smith called him back and said that Felder would be at B/W.

Scout.com: Offers Arrive for Baltimore MVP
4/24
By Bob Lichtenfels. Pittsburgh, Toldeo, and Buffalo have offered. Visited Pitt, toured the campus, met with the Pitt DB coach (Hafley) as well as coach Wannstedt, who offered him....Pitt likes him as a CB. Visiting PSU for the Blue-White spring game on Saturday and really hoping for an offer...says if PSU offers they are definitely at the top of the list.

So, if you only smell the fart, but didn't hear it, does that mean I didn't do it?
It's possible that Joe and Terry have made amends. It's also possible that there was never an issue to begin with, but there was smoke around that potential fire.
It's also possible that Felder doesn't care.

you didn't fart only if your mind says that you didn't.
Sounds like this kid wants to go to PSU.

maybe the dog farted, but if you're a coach then the typical football fan will place the blame on you. heh
The one thing I know for sure is that fans love conspiracy theories and they're wrong far more often than they're right. I've seen all sorts of creative explanations for events over the past few years from "JoePa is too old" back in 2004 to last fall's "Joe's gonna retire at the end of the season and the staff has stopped recruiting" and there's the ever popular "Jay can't coach", and there's been nothing to support such rumors except hysteria, hallucinations, and folks jumping to conclusions without really thinking about it.
Sure, I can see Terry Smith being disappointed that JK didn't get drafted higher, but I also give him credit for being smart enough to know that there was a risk for him to come out early so it would be foolish to blame the PSU staff, and that he would know it would not be in the best interests of the kids to steer them away from PSU because, after all, he had a good experience with his own decision to go there.
So the more logical conclusion for me is that the Gateway kids who go elsewhere preferred those schools over PSU just as other recruits do every year, and that the stupidity and meanspiritedness is not in TS's actions but in the interpretation of events by fans because I see such nonsense from fans every day. If someone can provide better evidence beside speculation on message boards, I'll consider it.

Bill Kurelic: It's no surprise that the region's top linebackers were the showstoppers at Penn State - ESPN
Quote:
Sleeper alert
Brendon Felder (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) lived in Boston most of his life. Felder played slot receiver, running back and cornerback for St. John's Prep in Danvers, Mass., during his junior season. However, he has moved to the Keystone State and was impressive at Penn State on Saturday. Felder is at least a MAC prospect on the offensive side of the ball, but he showed the athletic ability to be a very good defensive player at a BCS-level college.

For those of you who follow our yearly rankings, you may have noticed that the Top 50 has become the Top 25. The reason for this is because of the lack of depth in the state. It's become more difficult to find 50 prospects yearly that are at a high-major level. For that reason, we have decided to just report on the very best the state has to offer.
While the depth is not what it used to be in a state that has seen its population plunge over the last few decades, there is still some excellent talent out there. You may notice, however, that there are really only two prospects who received attention from the high level programs around the country. This is a significant drop from past seasons.
Lastly, as we always try to do, we do our best to leave out "scout talk," hyperbole and biases. We try to speak as bluntly, and accurately, as possible, while still remembering that these are high school kids we're talking about.

23. Brendon Felder, Gateway HS (Monroeville) WR/CB- You can't have a top list of PA prospects without a Gateway player, and this Massachusetts import is one of the biggest surprises of the combine circuit this spring. At 5'11" and 165 pounds, he needs some work in the weight room, but as he proved the last few months, his 4.4 speed and excellent athleticism will get him places. Offers from Pitt, Boston College, Syracuse and a lot of MAC teams. Bottom line- Once he gets the major exposure of being one of Gateway's best this season, his stock should keep going up.
