Recruiting notebook: Eagles' Jones attracting interest | Spartanburg, South Carolina | GoUpstate.com | Spartanburg Herald-Journal
Quote:
Dear diary
Byrnes running back Marcus Lattimore is showing he can do more than score touchdowns.
The 6-foot, 210-pound junior apparently is a pretty good writer, too.
Lattimore has begun keeping a weekly recruiting diary for several ESPN affiliate Web sites. Lattimore’s blog is titled “From the horse’s mouth.”
“ESPN called and asked if I wanted to do a diary every week,” he said. “They just tell me to talk about how school is going, my visits, offers and basically everything.”
Lattimore says he dictates the details by phone to an ESPN representative, who then posts them onto the Web site. He says the experience is fun. “I like to sit down and write stories. It’s cool to me,” Lattimore said. The diary will continue through the end of the football season, he said.
Lattimore added that Central Florida, Ohio State and Oklahoma have started recruiting him.
Lattimore has 25 offers with the latest from Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin.
His top-10 list includes Clemson, South Carolina, Auburn, Duke, Georgia, Florida State, LSU, Maryland, Michigan and North Carolina.
However, he says revisions could be made as new offers come in.
“Those 10 schools will be my focus, but I’ve got to look at Penn State now,” Lattimore said. “That’s tradition there.”
Lattimore will take official visits to Penn State on Nov. 7 and Michigan on Nov. 21.

I don't really think so. I think he's just trying to see a bunch of marquee games. He also claimed he wanted to set up an official to Michigan for The Game. Now, he's apparently released a list of seven favorites and neither PSU or UM are on it.

And yet he was quoted in a South Carolia newspaper that he will visit PSU when it hosts OSU. Whether he makes it or bails remains to be seen. Personally, I think he bails, however, he has been quoted saying PSU gets an official visit.

Scout $
Scout.com: Rich Rod has a Fan in Lattimore
By A. Barthwell. Says he's always liked UM coach Rich Rodriguez. States that he wants to meet Rodriguez and loves the system that he runs. Lattimore's HS team runs the same system. Says that UM will get one of his five official visits and that he wants to come up for The Game.
|
Like I said, he also said UM will get one, so I guess we'll see.

Scout.com: Lattimore Working on Official Visit Schedule
4/8
By Don Callahan. Marcus says he is sure of two official visits in Michigan and PSU, and that the third will likely be LSU....he is working on deciding who will get his final two official visits and believes one of the two will probably be FSU, and is leaning towards Georgia and North Carolina for his final official visit. Marcus talks about UNC, and the Byrnes Head Football Coach (Chris Miller) discusses Marcus' as a player.

Both FOS and BWI are confirming that Lattimore will be visiting for the OSU game.
It also appears that he will be attending a camp at Penn State with his teammate (and "best friend"), Nick Jones.
Hmmm...

I am hoping that our staff will play this one much smarter than in the past.

It seems, to me at least, that Lattimore is going to be a Gamecock.

It's possible that we are, but we're hoping that the staff doesn't consider offering Jones until he and Lattimore visit - at the earliest.
Wallace will reportedly be joining the team this summer, as we are at the 85 limit, and not over.
Givens, BTW, has yet to get qualified (surprise, surprise). He has an SAT score he's waiting for, so we'll see.
