Buford junior running back Storm Johnson was among the large group of recruiting targets at Sanford Stadium on Saturday for the annual Georgia-Georgia Tech contest.
“It was a nice experience,” Johnson said. “It was raining, but other than that it was a good visit.
“The coaches at Georgia treat you really well.”
Johnson, whose first scholarship offer came from Stanford, said the Dogs and several other prominent programs have indicated that they will offer him during the winter.
“A lot of schools are telling me they will offer me in January or February,” he said. “That includes Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Miami, Ohio State and Texas.”
On Stanford: “It’s a great school. The academics there are really good. They run the ball about 65 percent of the time. I like the coaches and atmosphere at Stanford. They’re high on my list.”

Vols storm into 2010 with offer to Georgia running back : Football Recruiting : GoVolsXtra.com
Quote:
Storm Johnson expected to be in this position.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound running back from Buford (Ga.) High School is only a junior, but he’s already received scholarship offers from four schools: Tennessee, Stanford, South Florida and Central Florida.
|
Quote:
“I loved it,” Johnson said. “Tennessee is an up and coming program. They have all new coaches so I can’t wait to see what they do in the year (2009).”
Johnson has already seen UT’s success in the past. He said he’s waiting to see if new UT coach Lane Kiffin and his staff can rebuild the Vols.
“It was 2007 they went to the SEC championship game so I know they’re competitive,” Johnson said. “They just need the right guidance from the coaching staff to get there. They’re a real good up and coming program.”
Johnson will likely have offers from more programs in the near future.
He said he’s received interest from Alabama, Florida, LSU, Texas, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State, Miami, Georgia Tech and UCLA.
With so much early college attention, Johnson said he’s received advice from highly touted cornerback Branden Smith from Booker T. Washington in nearby Atlanta.
Smith is committed to sign with Georgia next month.
“He just told me don’t let all this stuff get to your head,” Johnson said. “Just use it as a working tool and keep working at it. Never get perfect.”
A perfect fit for Johnson would seem to be joining his friend Smith at Georgia.
Johnson, however, said he’s more interested in playing outside the state, although he hasn’t closed the door on the Bulldogs yet.
“Right now it’s medium,” Johnson said of his interest in Georgia. “If they came hard I would be interested in them.
“I’m looking to meet new people and go to a state I’ve never been before. I don’t want to stay at home. My parents don’t want me to stay at home either.”
Finding his next home is the key.
Johnson, who plans to graduate high school in December, said he’ll be looking for a school that feels like home.

By C Simmons. Auburn has offered, joining Stanford, UCF, USF and Tennessee. He really liked his time at Auburn earlier this year, and says that he thinks LSU is close to offering.

By C Simmons. FSU has offered Storm, who says the coaches told him they want a big back who is quick. An offer from LSU could come soon.

Well, Sean Fitz had said that PSU has offered. Beyond that though, I'd heard many rumors about Storm Johnson possibly having made an LSU commitment....who knows though. Maybe another one of those GA kids that claim an offer but we never, ever get.

Storm Johnson - College Football Recruiting 2010 - ESPN
Quote:
ESPNU 150 Watch List prospect Storm Johnson told affiliate Web site TigerGumbo.com that LSU is his leader after visiting campus.
He described the trip, "It was a great visit. I liked the coaches. I got to talk to a lot of the players. It just seemed like a great place."
Johnson previously mentioned that Florida State, Oklahoma, Florida, Tennessee, USC and Auburn were other programs that figure to be in the mix.
The highly-coveted rusher posted a 4.54 40-yard dash, 4.26 20-yard shuttle, 32.9-inch vertical, 35-foot power throw and 102.3 SPARQ rating at the Atlanta Nike Combine.

Loganville, Ga., junior Storm Johnson is one of the country’s most heavily-recruited running backs. Johnson does not plan to stay in Georgia to play college football - and Penn State is one of the schools he is interested in.
The 5-foot-11 and 205-pound Johnson rushed for 1,300 yards and 21 touchdowns during his junior season as Loganville won 15 straight games and a state championship.
“I have about 15 (scholarship) offers,” Johnson said. “LSU, Florida, USC, Ohio State, those are some of my top ones. Penn State has offered, too. They are one of my top schools. Oklahoma is another one.”

This cat will join the likes of Doug Worthington, Brandon Graham, Thaddeus Gibson, Mal Smith, Sam Young, Dan Wenger, Taj Boyd, BrYce McNeal, Reggie Smith and other high school superstars to say they will visit, only to bail at some point.
Let's not kid ourself. This cat is from Georgia and he is a major LSU lean.
