Baltimore (MD) Gilman
Height: 6-foot-2

Scout.com: Poggi has Offers Coming One After Another
2/27
By John Wallpher. Jim claims offers from Iowa, PSU, tOSU, Virginia, and Boston College...with an Auburn offer supposedly on the way as well. I've seen other players come out of that school so googled to see if I could find them, and instead found this blurb on wiki:

The football team has won eight Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) "A" Conference championships in 10 seasons under head coach Francis "Biff" Poggi
|
so I'll assume for now they're related.
Oh, and I guess the school name rang a bell because Jordan Love played there.

Joe Paterno is hoping to sign Baltimore (Md.) Gilman linebacker Jim Poggi for his 2010 recruiting class. Whether he does or not could ultimately depend on what Poggi thinks of Paterno.
The 6-foot-2 and 220-pound Poggi has 20-plus scholarship offers including Penn State, Ohio State, Texas, Iowa, Auburn, Nebraska, UCLA and South Carolina. Almost every school in the ACC has offered Poggi.

Yes, father and son (Biff-Jim). FWIW Jordan Love was the '09 CB that had went to Gilman (MD) but actually ended up at Deep Run (Glenn Allen, VA)...he committed to UGA. Deep Run was also home to '09 ATH Antoine Exum, who ended up committing to VT rather then PSU. Really wish we could have added either of those kids in this past class.

“Specifically, he has looked at what former players who weren’t starters had to say,” Biff Poggi said. “Ferentz came up big. I would say (Ferentz, Brown and Tressel) are the three highest right now.”
|
Interesting criteria. I wonder if this means he Googled statements from non-starters, or that he actually talked to some of them.

Would've been a great Plan C option at LB.

Whoever believes this kid had an offer from PSU also believes in the Easter Bunny.
