'11 PA ATH Maika Polamalu (Verbal Offer)
Scout.com: Maika Polamalu Profile
Pottstown (PA) Pottsgrove
Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 200 pounds
Maxpreps Articles - Super Sophs Primed For Breakout Seasons
Quote:
Maika Polamalu, RB, Pottsgrove (Pa.)
Head coach Rick Pennypacker might be the envy of high school coaches. In addition to freshman wunderkind Terrell Chestnut, Pennypacker has a second super freshman, 6-0 Maika Polumalu.
Maika is the cousin of Pittsburgh Steeler safety Troy, and nephew of Jacksonville Jaguar running backs coach Kennedy Pola, so he comes from quite a football family lineage. He’s beginning to carve out his own name for himself.
“He’s kind of a freak of nature,” said Pennypacker, who also said that Polumalu is already squatting 480 pounds while competing in the long jump and 100 meter events with the track team.
Pennypacker expects Polumalu to be the feature back next year. He may also see time in the secondary.

Every good combine has its share of talented underclassmen and this one will be no different. (Pottsgrove/Pa.) is home to two very talented youngsters Maika Polamalu and Terrell Chestnut. This dynamic duo is out to make a name for themselves.

Scout.com: Polamalu Will Make His Own Name
7/16
By Matt Alkire. Maika has a verbal offer from Villanova and has been getting interest from PSU, UCLA, Clemson, West Virginia, and Pittsburgh....Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and Syracuse have been by his school. Talks PSU and says he obviously grew up a big fan, but will try to separate family feelings because all he has known is PSU. Next spring break he'll check out Oregon State, Oregon, USC, and UCLA. Coach wants to take him out to Rutgers, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, and Princeton in the fall.

Scout.com: Pottsgrove Pitches Shutout (FREE)
Quote:

Running back Maika Polamalu shared carries with another talented running back from Pottsgrove, however he ended up with seven carries for 57 yards and a touchdown as well to go along with a 13-yard catch. Once Polamalu starts to put some aggression behind his 6-foot, 205-pound frame he could be a tremendous linebacker prospect, but right now he’s a bit “too nice” on the field.

BWI article on Maika's teammate, Terrell Chestnut, indicates Maika will be visiting for the PSU-Iowa game. Good news. Terrell Chestnut may not be able to make it though.

Lions offer Polamalu -
9/30/09
Quote:
By Bill Kurelic, NN Recruiting Analyst
bkurelic@nittanynetwork.com
Sept. 30, 2009
On Saturday night, the Nittany Lions faced Iowa in front of an overflow crowd in Beaver Stadium, as well as a national television audience. The game was another one of those ‘White-Outs’ that nobody does like Penn State.
The Penn State coaching staff took advantage of the big game and hosted a talented group of prospects on unofficial visits. Included in the group was one of the Keystone State’s top juniors: Pottstown (Pa.) Pottsgrove running back and defensive back Maika Polamalu.
The 6-foot-1 and 205-pound Polamalu, an ESPNU 150 Watch List prospect, received his first scholarship offer from Villanova. His second one came this past weekend, prior to kickoff in Happy Valley.
CONTINUED....

Kurelic’s Comment: Polamalu said he is in no hurry to select a college and is not likely to decide soon. When he does make a decision, I like Penn State’s chances.

By Sean Fitz. Maika talks about the season thus far....playing both running back and linebacker. Receiving interest from LSU, UCLA, Pitt, UVA, Clemson, Illinois, RU, and Syracuse. Talks about his visit to PSU, prior contact with PSU and coach Mike McQueary...says he'll be back for the Ohio State game. Thinks he'll visit Pitt as well, other then that he isn't worried about visits or recruiting....keeping an open mind while focusing on school and his junior season.

By Mark Pszonak. Maika is putting the season first and says he'll then focus on recruiting....just broke 1,000 yards rushing this past weekend. Would like to visit RU and Pitt as well as USC, UCLA, and Oregon if he gets the opportunity to visit family out on the west coast. Maika talks about RU and says he thinks it is a great program...great academic school and he would like to learn more himself on a visit.

Love Polamalu's quote:
Quote:
Many tears were shed on the Falcons' sideline. Most players seemed beside themselves, but Polamalu said he already knew what to do when he woke up the next day.
"Go lift," he said. "This year's over, next year's just beginning. We came out and got outmanned today. I won't let it happen again next year."

Scout.com: Polamalu Geared Up for Combine
1/5/10
By Matt Alkire. Maika has been working non-stop for the US Army AA combine since the season ended....really excited about it and doesn't care about positions or anything when he gets down there, just wants to give it his all. Thinks his visit PSU again, afterward, as well as Pitt, RU, Maryland....maybe even UVA and/or VT.
