Scout.com: Decision Coming from Haplea
7/8
By Matt Alkire. May make his decision by the end of the month, if not earlier. Looking at Pittsburgh, North Carolina, West Virginia, Florida State, and PSU as his finalists. His dad asked if he wanted a press conference and he may do that, but he plans on letting all the coaches know first and the press conference a few days later.

July 24, 2009
Annandale (N.J.) North Hunterdon tight end Kevin Haplea is set to announce his college choice and it certainly could be good news for the Nittany Lions.
“I’ve scheduled my announcement for Monday at 11 a.m., a little after our team workout that morning,” Haplea said. “The announcement will be at my high school.”
Haplea has 23 scholarship offers including Penn State, Pitt, Florida, Florida State, Miami, South Florida, North Carolina, Louisville, Syracuse, West Virginia, Clemson, Rutgers and Purdue.
“I have my top five of Penn State, Florida State, West Virginia, Pitt and North Carolina,” Haplea said. “I’ve been to all of them.”

Kurelic’s Comment: The Nittany Lions have been on a recruiting roll, and I think the roll continues. When Haplea announces his college choice on Monday I think it will be good news for the Penn State faithful.

Looks like #14 comes on Monday and #15 on Thursday.
Hopefully it will give Lattimore a warm and fuzzy feeling. Wouldn't hurt if Fortt kept talking PSU up to him.

Scout.com: Haplea Goes Blue and White
7/27
By Matt Alkire. Kevin tells Matt yesterday that he'll will indeed pick PSU today....says he got a feeling like he was home at PSU and that in the very end he was looking at PSU and West Virginia...it was a tough decision with his sister at WVU. Kevin talks about having visited PSU 3x in one month, his criteria, and how he felt PSU met each of his needs. Will take an official visit to PSU and has plans to enroll early.

End of anticipation: Haplea to PSU -

Annandale (N.J.) North Hunterdon tight end Kevin Haplea announced his college choice moments ago at a press conference at his high school. As expected, Haplea is commitment No. 14 for the Nittany Lions.
Haplea actually told the two Penn State assistant coaches involved with his recruitment of his decision almost three weeks ago.
“I did a silent verbal over the phone,” Haplea said. “I called Coach (Dick) Anderson and Coach (Bill) Kenney on July 7. I let them know I had picked Penn State, but to keep it under wraps. I wanted to wait to tell Coach (Joe) Paterno in person.”
Paterno has been on vacation, but had to be happy to return to good news.

Kurelic’s Comment: The Nittany Lions’ recruiting roll continues. This has the potential to be the best class Paterno has put together in a number of years, and now includes an outstanding tight end prospect.

I'm lovin' this recruiting class. Ignore the stars and the rankings for a minute and just look some of the comments coming out from the class. They're hyped about coming to Penn State and it seems like they can't wait to get after it. The momentum just keeps rolling and I see no reason for it to stop.

Thankfully, no surprises here. Good to see them filling more and more holes. Really makes me wonder how many freshmen will be contributing in 2010, tbh.

Well, these positions will take hits after this year:
QB - Newsome, Jones and Bolden have it under wraps
RB - only if Royster goes pro
TE - Szczerba should take over, but KH could get PT here
DT - at least one of the true frosh should play
ILB - Zordich/Carson battle unless Mauti moves over
CB - last year's crop will fill the spots
Of our 2010 commits, the following could play: Jones/Bolden, Coxson, Haplea, Hull and if he commits, Floyd.

Someone said the person doing the interview says UPS at first...don't know as I have yet to watch, but he should burn for it if true.
