ESPN Top QBs gear up for Elite 11 -ESPN Rise FOOTBALL
Quote:
The 2009 Elite 11 quarterbacks:
ROBERT BOLDEN, 6-4, 199 lbs., Detroit (Mich.) Saint Mary's Prep Bolden is an athletic signal-caller with emerging passing skills who possesses a wealth of physical tools. He broke out in 2007 as a sophomore starter at one of the top programs in Michigan, accounting for more than 1,500 yards of offense and 14 scores, and has a bright future as he continues to develop. He earned all-area and all-league honors last fall as a junior. He showed well as a rising junior at the '08 Columbus Nike Camp and then impressed this spring at the Champaign Nike Camp, displaying a strong arm and good footwork. Bolden joins fellow Detroit-area quarterback Devin Gardner in the 2009 Elite 11, and the Detroit duo represent only the fourth and fifth QBs from Michigan to ever make the Elite 11. Bolden has committed to Penn State. 2008 Stats: 72-of-113 passing for 951 yards and seven touchdowns; 260 yards and three scores rushing in nine games.

Bolden among elite -
Nick Montana, Blake Bell top final Elite 11 roster - ESPN
Quote:
Robert Bolden (committed to Penn State)
Bolden had a great workout at the regional camp and while he can make plays with his legs, he possesses raw physical tools as a passer that need to be honed and refined. He has upside as a dual-threat guy who can throw it.

Rivals.com Football Recruiting - Rivals250 Mailbag: Your questions answered
Quote:
Also, how close did Robert Bolden come to getting in the 250? Thanks guys.
If Bolden keeps on impressing out at the Elite 11, he'll be in the 250 next time. He was close this time around, much closer than our last ranking and he could be emerging as the best of the three Michigan quarterbacks. - Mike Farrell

The Elite 11 trys to get the top passing QB prospects in the country. How can the "best arm" of that group not be a top 250 player. I hate these top 250 type lists. I think one of the major top 250 lists did not have Coxson on it! Good Gravy. Coxson looks and plays like a college senior.
I guess it's really between Jones and Bolden who really has the "best arm."

Bolden is very much a camp/combine warrior right now. He had a very mediocre statistical junior year and led his team to a sub-.500 record. I think a lot of the ranking thing is due to his game film.

Why would I speak negatively about Bolden? Michigan got the QB that best fit Rodriguez's offense. I'm not the only one with the opinion that Bolden is a combine warrior.

Are you lost? You're in a thread about him on a PSU site.
Bolden has been in the Top 5 of all of the analyst's rankings of the Elite 11 camp, so maybe he's either matured, improved, was surrounded by inferior talent, or not in an offense that took advantage of his talents.
Gardner is fine, why don't you worry about the rest of the underachievers in your recruiting class?

Yeah, a camp is really going to change the game film, right?

I'll take Marvin Robinson, Ricardo Miller, Austin White etc..., thank you. Why don't you worry about beating Michigan more than once every twelve years and needing the worst-ever UM team to do it?

Only list three recruits and then with the ellipses? That trailed off pretty quick. Maybe you want to let DickRod know he needs linemen and linebackers too.
You Michigan fans had your fun.....there's a new sheriff in town.

Do you want me to write the entire recruiting class for you? We've been able to beat you with lower-ranked, higher-ranked, and everything in between.

LOLZ DICK ROD YOU'RE SO CREATIVE!!!!!!!!eleventyone!!! So, in your post, do you mean linemen like...
Ricky Barnum, Rocko Khoury, Elliott Mealer, Patrick Omameh, Mike Martin, Craig Roh, William Campbell, Anthony LaLota, Taylor Lewan, Michael Schofield, Quinton Washington, Jordan Paskorz, Ken Wilkins, and Christian Pace?
Do you mean linebackers like...
Kenny Demens, J.B Fitzgerald, Brandon Smith, Isaiah Bell, Brandin Hawthorne, Antonio Kinard and possibly Marvin Robinson? Is that what you meant? We don't have a linebacker that graduates until 2010. That might explain why the numbers are lower, don't you think? Stupid facts. Always getting in the way of a good time.

You can base this off of one year? Impressive. Sorry if I've heard this refrain before and don't believe it. I suppose we will see. Debating whether or not "there's a new sheriff in town" way before these games are played is a bit ridiculous. That's the last I'll say on this matter.
