I don't think anything illustrates RR recruiting like he is still at WVU more than his LB recruiting. I don't expect Michigan to recruit LBs ever year like PSU or tOSU, but UM is now taking kids that don't even top 200 pounds as LBs...taking ATH/WR recruits and putting them at LB...taking safeties and putting them at LB. tOSU occasionally has LBs at star, and PSU has Gerald Hodges (probable LB most places) at safety so it would seem both tOSU/PSU are going opposite the trend of putting smaller/faster defensive "ATHs" at LB. DT recruiting has been very hit or miss for UM. UM hasn't had a really legit CB/S in forever, maybe Warren now, but the safeties have just been funny.
The only thing I'm envious about is Michigan allowing their CBs/secondary to do more. Play different coverages, mix things up, and so on. I don't trust the UM defensive coaches more than Bradley but they'll probably be better just because they aren't pussies. We've had consecutive 5*/#1 CB signees and I have yet to see us play aggressively. I hope the USC game was a wake up call and that Bradley gets his head out of his ass with Darrell Givens, D'Anton Lynn & Derrick Thomas these next few years (plus a bunch of other guys).

LB recruiting has been poor ar Michigan for a long, long time. This is nothing new.

SRSLY? A Bolden visit to PSU, especially this weekend which should be a productive one for PSU, would be a hopeful sign. There is no question he has legit interest, and I don't think there is any doubt with Paul Jones having made an early PSU commit, that if he had not, Bolden would be a PSU commit right now.
I think he has seen first hand just how successful he could be at PSU if used like Clark. It would be sick if he came on board as the 2nd '10 QB commit for PSU and that would really be telling...you sign those 2 and I don't think there is any question that you've got the best QB class in the nation regardless of what anyone else does...not to mention Coxson, Redd, the 3 OLineman, and TE/DL Kyle Baublitz.
But I'm sure he really likes MSU as well, and having Kevin Newsome and Paul Jones as competition may be too much. I just hope come February, has gets that LOI from a top 10 QB...whoever pulls the trigger.

I've been hearing/reading that there is an expectation of Bolden ending up at PSU...not even from the PSU side of things but from MSU fans. Robert Bolden had visited MSU and possibly even committed....Apparently Bolden's family skipped their MSU campus visit which could've been when Bolden would have went official with it...PSU coaches supposedly ask him to hold off, visit PSU and then choose, and now he is visiting for 5 days with family.

Interesting.
I'm curious as to why his parents aren't making the trip with him this weekend. His coach will be there, but you'd figure Dad would need to be in the house for it to go down.

Maybe it is bad info but the person seems to know what he is talking about. FWIW nearly the same stuff (pretty much) is posted on the Big 10 recruiting thread on this board: The Mainboard.
The person I was arguing with:
1) didn't have anything to say about a potential PSU commit
2) did believe Bolden himself pulled the trigger on MSU but that his dad is the one pulling the strings...who knows.
He could conceivably visit PSU for 5 days and make his MSU commitment shortly thereafter, but I haven't seen any MSU fans confident of that at all. I'm not confident/sold on him committing, and even if it does it won't count for anything until February. I generally feel very good about the way PSU recruits and almost never feel like decommit(s) should be worried about, but I worry about our QB commit/QB recruiting.
I'm fine with all our other commits and don't believe any of them waiver but PJ did waiver for a minute and there seems to be some drama trying to obtain that 2nd QB commit...just can't afford for any drama or mishaps recruiting the position this year.

Oh, my god. If PSU can somehow force a chain reaction that leads to Boisture decommitting, I will be eternally grateful.

Camping in Happy Valley -
6/25
Quote:
It is not 100-percent clear if he will make it to State College in time for the second day of the Senior Camp on Saturday, but it is definite ESPNU 150 Watch List quarterback Robert Bolden from Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary’s will be in State College for camp.
“I leave on Saturday for Penn State’s camp,” Bolden said. “I’m not sure if I’ll work out Saturday or not. But I’ll be working out. I’ll be there until Wednesday.”
Wednesday is the last day of the Penn State Offense and Defense Camp. That camp is a four-day camp that runs from Sunday, June 28 to Wednesday, July 1, and is open to not only rising seniors, but underclassmen as well.
Bolden remains a viable candidate to be the other quarterback in Paterno’s 2010 recruiting class. Paterno has a commitment from quarterback P.J. Jones from McKees Rocks (Pa.) Sto-Rox, but wants to add a second signal-caller to the class.
“I’m still pretty interested in Penn State, Michigan State and Oregon,” Bolden said. “I’m still pretty open to everyone, but those are three I’m really looking at. Those three are recruiting me the hardest.”
Starting on Friday it will be a busy recruiting period for the Penn State staff with the two camps going back-to-back. Nittany Network.com will have complete coverage.

By A. Trieu. Boisture de-commits from BC and verbals to MSU. I know this is Bolden's thread, but it's going probably going to affect Bolden's decision.

That'll definitely have an effect on Robert Bolden's decision....he'll with MSU putting the full press on and nothing ever going public with Bolden committing to MSU, and now Boisture making the BC to MSU switch, MSU may not even be an option for Bolden.
Probably best for both MSU and Bolden, I get the feeling that Dantonio wants a meat and potatoes pro-style grind the ball type offense...Bolden (as well as Paul Jones) are more mobile and threaten with both the pass and run and are good fits for PSU. Oregon's offense would also probably be a good fit but they seem to have taken a lot of QBs these past few years and load up 2-3 at a time.
It will be very sweet if Bolden pulls the trigger, that would give PSU two top 10 QB commits.

Let's hope it works out better than the last time that happened with Mills and Wasserman.

Bolden provides update -

ESPNU 150 Watch List quarterback Robert Bolden from Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary’s said last week he would leave for Penn State on Saturday and attend the Nittany Lions’ camp from Sunday through today.
There was a change of plans. But that doesn’t mean things did not work out well for Bolden and the Nittany Lions.

Kurelic’s Comment: It may not come today or tomorrow, but all indications are Bolden picks Penn State. He said he is not concerned Jones has already committed to Penn State.

A poster on the BWI freeboard who was providing updates on Bolden's weekend at PSU (i.e. "things are going great, Robert loves it up here"), giving the impression he was at the camp with him (and may be a member of Bolden's h.s. footall staff) said that Bolden is coming to PSU.
