Please note that these rankings are where the prospects are at this moment. The order will change when our first official Top 50 is revealed in the spring, and it will change once again as the season plays out. Young men of this age develop rapidly, both physically and in their knowledge of the game, so some will progress faster and further than others. That includes young men not even on this list who will no doubt come “out of nowhere” over the next year to prove that they also are future college players. But barring anything drastic, those on this list will be ranked highly all season and all will play at major programs.

4. Sharrif Floyd, George Washington HS (Philadelphia) DT/OG- Kids from inside Philadelphia are generally under-recruited, but that should change for this 6'4" 300 pound behemoth after he destroyed the competition at a major national underclassmen combine in Texas last month. Played mostly offensive guard in high school so far, and he could project extremely well there also, but a kid this strong and athletic is hard to pass up on the interior defensive line. Dedicated player who raised his own funds in order to attend the combine in Texas. Maryland and Temple have offered early, but there will be many more.

April 09, 2009 Philly Tackle Takes Look At USC
By Phil Kornblut
DL Sharrif Floyd (6-3 311) of Philadelphia is wrapping up his spring break swing through the Carolinas by stopping by USC. Floyd arrived in Columbia Wednesday night and spent Thursday around the football program and the school. He attended practice Thursday night and will visit with head coach Steve Spurrier Friday morning before hitting the road for home. Floyd says USC has a lot to offer him. "I enjoyed it, it was a wonderful experience," he said. "South Carolina is a good place and I'm going to consider them. I talked with the defensive line coach and the defensive coordinator. I was looking at how many people they had at defensive tackle and how many they were recruiting. I also was looking at the type of people the coaches are. They are great guys. They all know what they want. They care about everybody. It's like a family." Floyd also has visited North Carolina, NC State and Clemson on this trip. He said Clemson won't be a factor with him because of their plethora of young defensive tackles. "They have five defensive tackles, all young, so I know I'm not going to fit into that," he said. "I'm not scared of competition, but they've got five coming back with experience." Floyd said he's been offered by USC, North Carolina, Syracuse, Rutgers, Penn State, Boston College, UCLA, Stanford, Maryland and Florida International. He plans to attend Penn State's spring game, and he said he might come back to USC for a game this fall, or for an official visit. He does not have favorites.
