Dude, there was NOTHING Maryland could do with this one. The tea leaves of him coming to PSU were evident two months back or so. All you had to do is connect the dots relative to the signals he was sending. Maryland didn't stand much of a chance; neither did Notre Dame; neither did Florida; neither did Georgia
DHB could have gone first and it wouldn't have made a difference. I guess he was more impressed that a former walk-on at PSU was chosen in the third round instead of seeing the most curious picks in the draft go seventh overall. DHB is a solid player - late first round/early second round type, but certainly not top 10.

Not sure where you think I'm bitter about this. I didn't think we were getting him after he visited you guys a couple months ago and raved about it. Bryant Johnson sealed the deal, imo. MD was outmatched in this one, severely overrated Franklin here.
Clearly he didn't look at the draft at all because he was at your spring game. Regardless, I highly doubt he knows who the hell Deon Butler is. I don't think these kids care about some walk on that is getting paid third round money. They want that guaranteed cash and that's exactly what DHB is getting. lol at him being early second round, jesus christ.

Coxson, who has formed friendships with former Penn State receivers Bryant Johnson - a City College alumnus - and Deon Butler, had been considered the Nittany Lions to lose for awhile now.
Butler landed in the perfect spot, he is going to hang around because Seattle probably views him as a potential Engram type player for them, and they love them some Engram. 3rd round isn't exactly awesome money, but both DWill (much too prove as a WR) and Butler (physical limitations; height/size) didn't have the raw physical ability that Coxson already possesses ; 6'2/6'1 nearly 200 pounds.

Coxson makes it official - Yahoo! Sports (FREE???)
4/30
By Mike Farrell. Committed to PSU and coach Larry Johnson yesterday, says he grew up as a PSU fan and that it meant everything to commit to PSU. Adrian also says his family likes PSU and that it was the best place for all of them, as well as mentioning the personalities of both PSU HC Joe Paterno and PSU coach Larry Johnson, as a positive.

Congratulations, the Terps had a player drafted in the Top Ten. I thought that automatically meant they would land whoever they wanted at that position during the next recruiting season? No? It doesn't work that way?

wow, that's hilarious about butler.
Are you really that dense? I'm not saying that at all, just that it's a pretty solid recruiting pitch. It was more an attempt at humor then anything as this was locked up after he visited a couple months ago.
I'm sure he'll be a good one for PSU, he's better then Felder and Kersey so he should get some good playing time right away. If I was him I'd want PJ throwing me the ball too.

You forgot the best part: he gets to play with future MVP Mike Teel.

Scout.com: Coxson: PSU Right Decision, Right Time
4/30
By John Wallpher. Adrian felt PSU was the best fit for not only himself, but also his family so he saw no point in dragging it out. He says that he wants everyone to know how hard he will work, how tough he will be, and how he will be a true student-athlete.

Dude, he was the most curious pick in the first round without question. IMO, he is the second coming of James Jett, but a bit more polished. Sorry I disagree with you in thinking he was a top 10 pick.
As for your comment about obviously he didn't see the draft and notice DHB being chosen in the top 10 ... was it really needed in this topic? Maryland was NEVER AN OPTION FOR HIM. HE DIDN'T CARE if DHB went first. Congrats ... you got a top 10 pick, as sad as it was - it goes in the books as one.

Bill Kurelic: It's no surprise that the region's top linebackers were the showstoppers at Penn State - ESPN

As advertised
Penn State's newest commitment, Adrian Coxson, was happy to be back in State College for the second weekend in a row. Coxson is a physical receiver with a nice combination of size and speed. He made some excellent grabs in group drills Saturday.

Adrian Coxson - College Football Recruiting 2010 - ESPN
ESPN EVALUATION:
Quote:
Coxson is a fantastic looking player on the hoof and he is a physical presence on the field. He has very good size, a thick muscular build and the strength to get off press and haul in passes in a crowd. He displays very good surge off the ball and shows very good top end speed for a player of his size. Initial burst and ability to drive defenders off of him is very impressive. He attacks the football with an aggressive demeanor. Is a good leaper. High points the ball and shows very good timing and awareness when the ball is in the air. Flashes the ability to catch on the run without losing much momentum.
Has quick, strong hands and adjusts well to poorly thrown passes. Is very good on short and intermediate routes. Shows excellent body control, and gets separation out of breaks. Shows outstanding lateral movement and change-of-direction skills for his size. Is thickly built and shows good strength off the line and especially after the catch. Very difficult to bring down one-on-one. Has flashed the ability to take the short catch the distance as a homerun threat. Shows a second gear and the ability to track down passes in the air.
While Coxson is extremely athletic, he is also raw as a route runner. Must be come more crisp and sharp into and out of his breaks to help create separation. Shows good initial burst, but builds speed too and isn't always explosively fast. Shows just a little stiffness in his change-of-direction. Overall, Coxson has some big play ability and big upside as a future playmaker. He must become more refined and disciplined, but he is the type of player that can create mismatches both vertically and after the catch.

Baltimore (Md.) City College wide receiver and Nittany Lions commitment Adrian Coxson was in State College last weekend for the NIKE Football Training Camp at Penn State.
The 6-foot-1 and 195-pound Coxson showed off his many talents in an impressive performance.
Coxson has been a varsity starter at wide receiver since his freshman season and a starter at cornerback the past two seasons.
Coxson caught 34 passes for 821 yards during his junior season. He averaged 24 yards per catch and had eight touchdowns. Coxson intercepted three passes. He averaged 23 yards per punt return with two touchdowns, and 20 yards per kickoff return with a touchdown.
Before committing to the Nittany Lions, Coxson had approximately a dozen scholarship offers including Penn State, Florida, Pitt, Michigan, West Virginia, Notre Dame, Maryland, Boston College and Connecticut.
Coxson committed to the Nittany Lions on April 30, five days after attending Penn State’s Spring Game and two days before making the trip back to State College for the NIKE Camp.
Nittany Network has a video interview with Coxson during a break in the camp, and also has action footage as Coxson worked out.
