Defensive lineman DaQuan Jones from Johnson City, N.Y., has committed to Penn State according to ESPN.com.
The 6-foot-4 and 300-pound Jones made 63 tackles during his junior season. He is one of the top defensive tackle prospects on the East Coast.
Jones committed to Penn State over scholarship offers from Boston College, Maryland, Syracuse, Illinois, Rutgers, Connecticut, Pitt and a few others.

Kurelic’s Comment: Several days ago I said the Nittany Lions have a good shot at landing Jones, so his decision comes as no surprise. Jones is commitment No. 10 for Paterno’s 2010 recruiting class, and we will soon follow up with quotes from Jones.

“Penn State is only about three hours away so we left about 6 a.m. on Saturday morning,” Jones said. “When I got there I did the camp. It was great. I had a lot of fun.

Kurelic’s Comment: Penn State’s class of 10 verbal commitments is shaping up to be one of the country’s best. Paterno is recruiting well both in Pennsylvania and outside state borders.

Bob doesn't check at all. He supposedly has these impecibile sources. He needs new ones. I don't think Clemmings stays with Pitt in the end with all this drama.

Daquan Jones, who had four of JC's seven sacks, and the rest of the JC defensive line were better in the second half, when they bailed out their offense twice.

"I wanted to come out and dominate the offensive line," said Jones, whom Martinson called "tremendous."

By Sean Fitz. DaQuan talks about his first ever visit to PSU for a game....visited this past weekend for the Eastern Illinois game and will visit for the Ohio State game in November....had a great time this past weekend and spent time talking with fellow commit, (MI) DE CJ Olaniyan, as well as coach Larry Johnson. DaQuan talks about his own team, which is undefeated, and what kind of improvements he has made as a player.
