By J Wallpher. Havenstein grew up watching Maryland and has been there the most, but he says he is keeping his options open. He is looking for a big schools with good academics and tradition.

It would be hard to miss Frederick (Md.) Linganore offensive lineman Robby Havenstein. Joe Paterno certainly hasn’t. Paterno has offered a scholarship to the 6-foot-7 and 335-pound Havenstein.
Havenstein was a starter at right tackle his sophomore season and moved to left tackle his junior season. He and running back/linebacker Zach Zwinak, who Paterno has also offered, led Linganore to a 13-0 record before a loss in the state championship game last fall.

The Nittany Lions hosted a Junior Day on Saturday and Frederick (Md.) Linganore teammates offensive lineman Robby Havenstein and linebacker/fullback Zach Zwinak were in attendance.

Havenstein no stranger to State College - [w/ video interview]

Frederick (Md.) Linganore offensive lineman Robby Havenstein attended the NIKE Football Training Camp at Penn State last weekend. For Havenstein, State College has almost become a home away from home.
In addition to the NFTC, Havenstein attended three Penn State home games last season and a Nittany Lions spring practice session in April.
The 6-foot-7 and 335-pound Havenstein has been a starter for Linganore since his sophomore season, when he played right tackle. Havenstein moved to left tackle his junior season and was outstanding as Linganore won 13 straight times before losing in the state championship game.
Havenstein’s scholarship offer list includes Penn State, Maryland, West Virginia, Stanford, Virginia, Wake Forest and North Carolina State.
Nittany Network caught up with Havenstein last Saturday as the NIKE Football Training Camp was about to get started, and we have a video interview with the huge lineman.

The Nittany Lions held a junior day in April and Frederick (Md.) Linganore offensive lineman Robby Havenstein headed north and was in the house. It was not Havenstein’s first trip to State College.
Havenstein attended three Penn State games last season as a guest of the Nittany Lions’ coaching staff. He was on hand as Penn State defeated Oregon State, Michigan and Michigan State. Havenstein also attended the Nike Football Training Camp at Penn State on May 2.
Needless to say, Havenstein is quite interested in the Nittany Lions.

Kurelic’s Comment: When one looks at the Nittany Lions’ recruiting board, Havenstein remains one of the stronger possibilities to end up at Penn State.

His chance of becoming a Lion is over. His ship has sailed. No more room at the inn for OL in this class.
