TheBigSpur.com - USC offers Jersey ATH
Quote:
South Carolina has offered a scholarship to another standout from the Garden State. The Gamecocks recently sent a tender in the mail to jumbo athlete Sherard Cadogan (Cherry Hill, N.J./Camden Catholic). The 6-foot-3, 222-pounder spoke with TheBigSpur.com about the current state of his recruitment and his interest in the Gamecocks.
"I’m up to 15 offers,” he said. “I have ones from Maryland, Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, East Carolina, Vanderbilt, Minnesota, Stanford, UConn, South Carolina, and Iowa. Penn State and Michigan State are some of the other schools really coming after me."
Cadogan talked about the Gamecocks and the offer he received from his recruiter, quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus.
"They offered me a few days ago,” he said. “It sort of came out of nowhere. I looked them up on the computer and seen all the different type of majors they have. I watched one of their games and I noticed the defense. I like their defense and the speed they have. I would like to visit this summer.”
Cadogan also talked about two schools in the state of Pennsylvania, one of which has offered, one has not. He also talked about Maryland, who seems to be in good position early.
Pittsburgh: "I’ve been there before and have talked to all the coaches. I like all of them. I love the environment and there is always something to do there. I’ve meet some of the players and like them."
Penn State: "They seem really interested in me. I think they are pretty close to offering. They call me a lot. We will see what happens. The stadium is amazing. It’s one of the biggest."
Maryland: "I just like how they play. I visited before and I really liked the facilities and the campus."
Cadogan broke down the factors he will consider when he goes to pick the college of his choice.
"I’m going to be looking at the campus, the people, and the environment,” he said. “I will also look at the players that will be around me. They also need to have a good engineering school. I may wait till signing day but I’m not sure. It will probably be after my season as I want to take all five of my official visits.
“I don’t have a leader or a top group right now. The schools I am visiting this summer are some of the schools I am really interested in. Of the schools I have visited Pitt, Penn State, and Maryland stand out to me."
Cadogan added he hoped to visit Stanford, Wisconsin, South Carolina, Penn State, Iowa, and Pitt this summer.
ESPN/Scouts Inc. gives Cadogan and overall grade of 76.

TheBigSpur.com - USC in the thick of it
7/3
Quote:
"I plan on sitting down with my parents and narrowing it down to five schools, maybe eight,” Cadogan said. “Hopefully I get it down to five and those will be my official visits. Right now I would say that Pitt, Michigan State, West Virginia, and South Carolina are some teams that will make the cut."
He talked about the Gamecocks and the relationship he has formed with his recruiter, quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus.
"Coach Mangus has been sending me a lot of mail and E-mail,” Cadogan said. “He really wants me to visit. South Carolina is one of the schools I am very interested in. From watching them on TV, it looks like it is crazy down there. I’ve never visited the campus but I have visited the Carolinas a bunch. I love the area down there and the weather is always good. The people are all cool. I know defensive wise they have a lot of speed and they attack. I also play tight end and I love the way they use theirs."
Cadogan has nearly 30 offers. Most recently Michigan State jumped in with a full ride. East Carolina, South Florida, Temple, Akron, Maryland, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Stanford, West Virginia, Iowa and Wisconsin are some of the others to offer in addition to the Spartans and the Gamecocks.
He has visited Penn State, Stanford, and Pitt so far this summer. He will also visit Wisconsin and Michigan State later this summer. He talked about several programs specifically.
Penn State: "They seem really interested. They talk to me a lot. I’m not really sure if they are going to offer or not. I know they are going after a lot of defensive ends right now. I really love the stadium and I know the fans are crazy for games. I really like the coaches and the campus."
Stanford: "Stanford is one of the best academic schools around. The campus was real nice and the weather is perfect there. They have good coaches and I was able to work out for them. I don’t really care about the distance from home but my mom would like for me to stay closer."
Pitt: "I love Pitt. I was able to talk with the coaches when I was there. I like that it’s in the city and there is always stuff to do. It’s also pretty close to home. It’s a football town. Everything is centered around football."

Scout.com: Cadogan Narrowing List
7/16
By Matt Alkire. Cutting his list to 5 and is sure of Pittsburgh, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and West Virginia...Sherard is looking at South Carolina, Maryland, and PSU for the fifth spot. He says PSU told him to hold off, that they are still very interested and could offer before summer ends...talks about PSU and his camp experience. Says he loves Pittsburgh but has yet to take officials to MSU or Wisconsin...if he had to pick now it would be Pittsburgh.

Cadogan is a decent Plan B in a year in which we will not likely take a Plan B in the entire class.
If we had 20+ 'ships, he'd have a chance to get one. His film is decent.

Scout.com: Cadogan Trims List to Six
8/6
By Matt Alkire. Sherard has his list trimmed down to Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, Michigan State, South Carolina, PSU (no offer), and West Virginia. PSU has told Sherard he is the #3 DE for PSU right now, that he should visit for a game and hold off on making his commitment. Pittsburgh is leading but Sherard says he has been there many times and has yet to visit some other schools...a lot can change and he plans to take official visits. Hopes to have his decision made toward the end of October.

By Mike Farrell. Sherard's top three stand at UW, MSU, and Pitt. Wants to visit all three before deciding. Plans on coming to UW on September 25th with Joe Brennan. Talks about his high school team and practices, what is going on with recruiting, each of his top three, and reiterates that it doesn't matter which position he plays in college.
