Another Zordich on Penn State radar screen -
Quote:

Dec. 31, 2008
Mike Zordich graduated from Youngstown (Ohio) Chaney in 1981 and went on to have a great career for Penn State as a strong safety, graduating in 1985.
His son, Michael Zordich from Youngstown Cardinal Mooney, was one of the Top 10 prospects in the Buckeye State in 2008. He ultimately selected Penn State over Ohio State and is currently a redshirt freshman linebacker for the Nittany Lions.
There is yet another Zordich on Penn State’s radar screen: Cardinal Mooney junior quarterback Alex Zordich. The 6-foot-3 and 200-pound Alex helped lead Mooney to a 9-3 record this season. He threw for 781 yards and seven touchdowns with just two interceptions.
As one might expect, Alex is very familiar with the Penn State football program. “I’ve been to Penn State a lot of times, ever since I was young,” Alex said. “I went to three games this season, when they played Michigan State, Illinois and Indiana. “It’s real neat there. And the family history is a neat thing with my brother playing for the same coach as my dad.”
However, Alex said brother Michael is not trying influence him too much. “My brother would love to see me go to Penn State,” Alex said. “But he says I have to keep my eyes open. Everyone says I’m a lock to go to Penn State, but I’m interested in whoever is interested in me.”
The list of schools sending mail and showing interest in Alex includes Penn State, Northwestern, Kansas and Cincinnati. Alex is waiting for his first scholarship offer. And while he wants to keep an open mind, there is no doubt an offer from Joe Paterno would certainly get his attention.

Scout.com: Dual Position Quarterbacks Take Center Stage (FREE - Dave Berk - 6/14)
Brian Kelly has always been one to recruit athletes capable of playing multiple positions. On Sunday three quarterbacks with the abilities to play other positions enjoyed good days in front of the Bearcats coaches.
Alex Zordich (Youngstown/Ohio/Cardinal Mooney), Derek Roback (Waverly/Ohio) and Verlon Reed (Columbus/Ohio/Marion-Franklin) all showed enough abilities to earn Bearcat offers.
While each came as quarterbacks their future could also be at different positions. What made each of these prospects standout? We look at each.

If you think you’ve heard the name before there is a good chance you have. Alex is the son of former Penn State and Philadelphia Eagle star Michael Zordich. Alex also has an older brother Mike who is at Penn State now. But Alex is a good prospect as well and on this day showed as good of an arm as Roback and Reed. Like the others Zordich is a very good athlete capable of playing another position and being a safe offer. Zordich projects like Roback to defense as a linebacker as he stands about 6-foot-3.

ESPN.com - TE Haplea picks Penn State

Zordich considering two offers Quarterback Alex Zordich (Youngstown, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney) has scholarship offers from Bowling Green and Air Force.
The 6-3, 200-pounder led his team to a 9-3 record during his junior season, passing for almost 800 yards and seven touchdowns.
"I'm looking at both schools," Zordich said. "Bowling Green said they would give me a shot at quarterback, but if that didn't work out I could play someplace else. Air Force sent a written offer, so I'm not sure what position they are thinking."
Zordich said he is also interested in Indiana, Pitt, Penn State and Cincinnati. Zordich' older brother, Mike Zordich, is a freshman linebacker at Penn State, and his father Michael Zordich was an outstanding strong safety for the Nittany Lions in the 1980's.
