Completely unintentional for me to pick 2004, by the way. I just got lazy and was tired. Still, I think LSU is the best program for DL to make the pros.

Odrick is fantastic, though.

There are other factors in PSU's favor as well....

2008 NCAA Graduation Success Rate for BCS Football Programs

T9. Penn State 78%

T52. LSU 54%

That's even a little down for PSU. Traditionally, we've been better. In 2005, PSU was at 84%....while LSU was at 51%.

Even worse, LSU's graduation rate for black athletes has been atrocious. I'm trying to find an official link...

Louisiana State University (LSU)

Football GR: 38
Overall GR: 56.8
Football White GR: 50
Football Black GR: 32% Black-White Football GR Disparity: (50-32) = 18

Seems like lots of the SEC schools have DLs that go pro... I think they just "grow 'em big down there"... Not entirely sure that it has a lot to do w/ the notion of coaching and scheme... they just get great, huge, talented DL recruits in the dirty south. I didn't see a lot on the LSU list that have been wildly successful just yet... although Dorsey and and Jackson surely got their $$$. That's hard to fight. I just don't think I can take the leap that they wouldn't have been just as good if they chose schools elsewhere ya know... maybe a different school would have made them better or more pro ready?... probably just talking out my ...............

Defensive lineman Dominique Easley, one of New York’s top prospects, continues to add to his scholarship offer list. In mid-April, Easley had offers from Penn State, Michigan, Rutgers, Syracuse, Boston College, Texas Tech, Tennessee, Maryland, Oregon, Duke and Connecticut.

As the spring evaluation period winds down, Easley has seen a half-dozen additional schools step forward.

“I have six more offers,” Easley said. “South Florida, Georgia and Miami, those are the ones I can think of right away. I’m still open. I’m going to look at all of them.”

I wasn't a big fan when I first saw this kid's tape. His highlights on the ESPN site are actually pretty good. I could see him bulking up to 285-290 and playing a 3-tech DT or staying under 270 and playing strong side DE.

Scout.com: Three More for Dom Easley

6/7

By Matt Alkire. Central Florida, UCLA, and Miami (FL) have offered. Doesn't have summer plans yet but will likely camp at a couple of schools or take visits. Would like to get to Miami (FL) for a visit, Dominique likes the coaching staff and says most of his favorite players are from the U. Also talks about his contact with UCLA and mentions Pac-10 play and a great history.

Defensive lineman Dominique Easley from Staten Island (N.Y.) Curtis is one of the top prospects on the East Coast. The 6-foot-3 and 260-pound Easley led his team to a 21-2 record over the past two seasons.

Easley made 49 tackles including eight sacks during his sophomore season. He recovered two fumbles and returned one for a touchdown as Curtis went 13-0 and won the city championship. Easley made 51 tackles including 10 sacks during his junior season.

Easley has added scholarship offers from Florida, Georgia, Miami and South Florida and now has 18 offers total. His list includes Penn State, Michigan, Rutgers, Syracuse, Boston College, Texas Tech, Tennessee, Maryland, Oregon, Duke and Connecticut, which all offered by mid-April.

Kurelic’s Comment: Easley is very non-committal on his college choices. But it seems like the Nittany Lions have as good a shot as anyone.

RU - there are minor rumblings about Easley committing to RU this weekend. Have you heard anything about this?

That's what El Guapo Loco said yesterday. He c/ped that and the news about Foose and Sacco from the RU Rivals premium board.

That would be a sea change (Easley said he wanted to get away from home, and Staten Island is almost right on top of RU), wonder if there's any relationship to PSU looking good with Hailes and Jones (I see Easley as a DT). I thought it was funny though when that guy who's Savage's uncle or whatever made a joke thread about Brown and it was picked up by BWI.

Weird, since it's now looking more likely than ever.

Yeah. It set off red flags for me squaring with his previous comments, but I also thought the same thing about similar rumors with Isaac Holmes a few months back, and he ended up Scarlet. I personally wouldn't mark him down as a lock or anything despite any talk about a silent verbal.
