He looks like a legit blue-chip. He'd fit in very nicely at RB or CB.

Youngstown (Ohio) Cardinal Mooney junior running back-defensive back Braylon Heard is one of several class of 2010 Mooney prospects the Nittany Lions are interested in.
The 5-foot-11 and 170-pound Heard, who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.48 seconds, was a starter at cornerback for Mooney during his sophomore season. He started at both running back and cornerback as a junior and could play either in college. “It doesn’t matter to me,” Heard said. “I think I could end up playing either position in college.”
Cardinal Mooney finished this past season with a 9-3 record. Heard missed two games with a sprained ankle, but still rushed for close to 1,000 yards and had two interceptions two passes.
Heard said Penn State, Ohio State, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan State and Florida State are just some of the schools showing interest. He attended games this season at Penn State, Ohio State and Toledo.
“I went to the Penn State-Illinois game,” Heard said. “I actually liked that one better than the Ohio State-Michigan game. They had a ‘white-out’ and the crowd was crazy. The field was really nice. That was the first time I’ve been to a game at Penn State.” But it probably won’t be the last. When asked to name his favorite schools, Heard said, “I like USC, but I haven’t heard from them. I like Penn State a lot. I like West Virginia too. Penn State and USC are my two favorites.”
Penn State freshman linebacker and former Mooney great Mike Zordich is already on the Penn State roster. Heard, as well as junior teammates Alex Zordich (Mike’s younger brother) and Ray Vinopal make no secret of their interest in Penn State too.
Our friends at ScoutingOhio.com just put together this highlight video of Heard’s junior season. Here is Heard in action as a sophomore.

The 2010 running back comes from a top notch program in Ohio, and is starting to hear from some big time names. Has he received a coveted offer yet?

Youngstown (Ohio) Cardinal Mooney junior running back and cornerback Braylon Heard landed a scholarship offer from the Nittany Lions on Tuesday. Heard discussed his first scholarship offer with Nittany Network.
“Jay Paterno was at my school (on Tuesday),” Heard said. “I talked to him in the lunch room. He said he was going to offer me a scholarship.”

After the discussion in the Silas Redd thread about offering the kid as an ATH or at a position, I really like this approach:
Quote:
Heard is not sure if the Nittany Lions like him more on the offensive or defensive side of the ball, but his guess is defense.
“I’d say probably cornerback,” Heard said. “But it doesn’t matter to me.”
|
Just don't mention it if the kid doesn't care. heh

Youngstown (Ohio) Cardinal Mooney running back and defensive back Braylon Heard has seen his scholarship offer list grow from one to a half dozen in the past month.
Penn State assistant Jay Paterno got the jump on everyone when he visited Cardinal Mooney in late January and offered Heard a scholarship. West Virginia, North Carolina State, Indiana and Akron have recently joined Penn State with offerss
The 5-foot-11 and 170-pound Heard played both cornerback and running back during his junior season. He intercepted two passes and rushed for close to 1,000 yards.
The Buckeyes have been in contact with Heard who attended the Ohio State-Michigan game.

Any idea if OSU will offer?
His film looks great, but his offer list isn't all that impressive. Kinda strange...

wadc - do you know why Heard doesn't have more offers? Is his film misleading?
I have heard some say (who have seen Mooney play) that he didn't stick out, but who knows.
