By Mike Farrell. Travis has yet to set up any visits but wants to do so....says it is difficult playing his games Friday night because most of the college games he wants to attend are noon games on Saturday, like Miami (FL)-Oklahoma. Still focused (no specific order) on Miami (FL), WVU, PSU, Tennessee, North Carolina, and LSU.

Williams a safety valve? -

Linebacker Khairi Fortt from Stamford, Ct., is set to announce his college choice on Monday afternoon. Though Fortt has narrowed his choices down to Penn State, Georgia, USC, Tennessee and North Carolina, it will be a bit surprising if Fortt does not select the Nittany Lions over the Bulldogs.

However, if Fortt does announce he is headed to Penn State, it does not necessarily mean linebacker Travis Williams from Norfolk (Va.) Lake Taylor would be out of the picture.

“Penn State is recruiting me as a strong safety,” Williams said. “Everybody else is recruiting me as a linebacker.”

Kurelic’s Comment: The Nittany Lions do not have any defensive back commitments in their 2010 recruiting class. Despite that, whether it is as a strong safety or as a linebacker and with remaining scholarships at a premium, I will be surprised if Joe Pa and his staff have room for Williams if he would want to eventually commit.

By Mike Farrell. Top schools are Miami (FL), UNC, and WVU....Travis has always liked the Hurricanes and says that both UNC and WVU standout because of the recruiters. PSU is out because Travis hasn't played safety and a lack of contact, LSU is out because of depth, and Tennessee isn't the right fit. Focusing on school and thinking about scheduling some visits, but none are planned.

Sack master Travis Williams cuts long list down to three

Three-star outside linebacker Travis Williams (Norfolk, Va./Lake Taylor) Travis Williams updated ESPN affiliate Web site EerSports.com on his recruitment.

"I dropped it down to three yesterday," Williams said, "Miami (Fla.), North Carolina and West Virginia. They [WVU] are coming after me pretty hard. Coach Beatty wants me to go down there."

Several other programs including Penn State, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, LSU, Maryland, N.C. State, Louisville and Syracuse have also recruited Williams.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound prospect registered 57 combine sacks during his freshman, sophomore and junior seasons.
