King football falls in NEPSAC Class C final - The Advocate
Quote:
WEST HARTFORD -- It's the same story with the same ending at the same location for the King football team, only the year is different.
Despite dominating its regular season opponents, the Vikings lost its second-straight New NEPSAC bowl game.
Suffield Academy dominated the line of scrimmage and took away the King running game and forced five turnovers on its way to a 34-13 win over King in the Del Prete-Theobold Bowl (Class C Championship), held at Kingswood-Oxford School.
"We knew we had to control the line and we only limited them to a few big plays,"
Suffield Academy head coach Drew Gamere said. "To be able to control Kevin Pierre-Louis and Silas Redd was great."
Redd did get the yardage he needed to surpass 2,000 rushing yards on the season, but was held to 93 yards on 21 carries.

Too bad....Congrats to Silas on the great individual season though, as well as a good year for King.

Ralph David Abernathy IV doing his prominent family name proud - Kristian Dyer - SI.com
Quote:
Quick video
One of the more intriguing players in the nation is Connecticut's Silas Redd, a solid verbal to Penn State. Redd has outstanding hips and the ability to shift directions in a half-step. An athlete in every meaning of the word, Redd could be a playmaker in the backfield or as a slot receiver on the offensive side of the ball. Redd will join Khairi Fortt, a linebacker also from the "Nutmeg" state, at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January before both head off to Happy Valley.

Scout.com: ScoutTV: Redd Tips Lattimore's Hand?
1/5/10
By Bob Lichtenfels. $ video interview with Silas.
Quote:
SAN ANTONIO, Texas-- Penn State commit Silas Redd is proving that he is one of the best running backs in the nation this week. While interviewing Redd, the Nation's No. 1 running back Marcus Lattimore intervened and may have tipped his hand.
The rumors this week have Marcus Lattimore really feeling the Penn State Nittany Lions and while talking with Stamford (Conn.) running back Silas Redd, Lattimore did nothing to quell those rumors.
Redd is lighting it up in San Antonio and we suspected that Redd may scare off Lattimore. As it turns out it is something the two standouts have already discussed at length.
In this video you will hear our interview with Redd and at about the 3:00 minute mark you will see Lattimore enter the picture and possibly tip his hand. Lattimore still has a visit to Oregon remaining, but the Nittany Lions appear to be right in the mix.

January 3, 2010 at 5:18 pm by Dave Ruden
Recent graduates Khairi Fortt of Stamford High School and Silas Redd of King left today for San Antonio, to begin practice for Saturday’s prestigious U.S. Army All-American Bowl, which will be broadcast on NBC at 1 p.m.
With the coordination of the public relations people down there, both Fortt and Redd are going to be blogging, sending brief postcards home, during the week. There will also be pictures of both players.
I will get you more details as we set things up.

When you read about his dad, it's a lot easier to understand why Silas is so outstanding. I couldn't be happier that he's coming to Penn State. I'm looking forward to seeing the commits perform tomorrow.

No question....I'm really pumped about Silas' future at PSU. Discipline isn't a bad thing at all, and I'm sure that has been instilled by his father.
