LancasterOnline.com:Local Sports:Central's Royer narrows his list
Quote:
Manheim Central rising senior blue-chip recruit Dakota Royer has whittled his list of college suitors down to five.
The Barons' blitz-happy defensive end and pass-catching, playmaking tight end, who was a First-Team Associated Press Triple-A All-State pick at DE after registering 13 sacks last fall, will consider Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Penn State and Pitt.
Royer, who also caught 56 passes for 1,099 yards (20.6 per catch average) and five touchdowns last fall for the Barons, was named All-State by Eastern PA Football and Pennsylvania Football News.
Rivals.com ranks Royer 13th among weakside defensive ends among 2010 recruits.
Royer said he will announce his college decision in July.

Royer: Decision coming soon -
6/30

One of the top targets on the Nittany Lions recruiting board is linebacker/defensive end Dakota Royer from Manheim (Pa.) Central. Landing the Under Armour All-American is a huge priority for Joe Paterno and staff.
The 6-foot-3 and 220-pound Royer has linebacker size right now and could play that position at the next level. However, he has plenty of room to gain weight and could go in the 250-pound range in a couple years and put his hand down as a pass-rushing terror.
Either way, Royer has impact player potential.
Royer has been a starter since the beginning of his sophomore season, when he had 11 sacks. Royer made 86 tackles, including 11 sacks, during his junior season and also caught 56 passes for over 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns.
Royer has narrowed his list of over two dozen scholarship offers down to five: Penn State, Pitt, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Oregon. He has visited all of those schools - except Oregon.

Kurelic’s Comment: I continue to like the Nittany Lions chances. I see Royer eventually selecting Penn State, then working to help Joe Pa finish off a great recruiting class.

HA! Yeah, he can write another article claiming PSU is cooling on Royer and he thinks Lattimore takes that spot.

Royer's decision approaching
7/5
By Mike Farrell. Decision has apparently already been made...Dakota says he is pretty sure where he wants to go and will spend the next few days getting that set in stone. Decision may be announced within the next two or three weeks...Dakota says there may be a press conference. Wants to sit with his coach and discuss the decision. Didn't get to visit Graham Zug (Manheim Central/PSU WR) this past week because Zug was at the US Open, but Dakota could do so within the next week.

Not sure which is America's worst kept secret, Royer to PSU, or Kenney?

Hope you're right... every piece of literature on this fella always says generally that he's "just a football player". Gotta love those kinda guys.

Under Armour All-American linebacker/defensive end Dakota Royer from Manheim (Pa.) Central has scheduled a press conference to announce his college choice.
“I’m committing on July 30,” Royer said. “I’m going to have a press conference at my high school at 12 noon. It will be in the lobby at my school. I wanted to have it done by the end of the month and that date worked out at the school.”
The 6-foot-3 and 220-pound Royer has been a starter since the beginning of his sophomore season, when he had 11 sacks. Royer made 86 tackles, including 11 sacks, during his junior season and also caught 56 passes for over 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns.
Earlier this summer, Royer narrowed his list of over two dozen scholarship offers down to five schools, Penn State, Pitt, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Oregon. Of the five, the only one he has not visited is Oregon.

Kurelic’s Comment: Everything continues to point towards Royer announcing a commitment to Penn State. Tight end Kevin Haplea from Annandale (N.J.) North Hunterdon may also be on the verge of committing to Penn State. These would be two more huge ‘gets’ for the Nittany Lions.

Royer to make his decision on Thursday
Wednesday, July 29, 2009
Posted by Bill Kurelic
Defensive end/linebacker Dakota Royer (Manheim, Pa./Central) is set to announce his college choice on Thursday at noon EST during a press conference at his high school. The ESPNU 150 Watch List prospect had narrowed his list of dozens of scholarship offers down to Penn State, Pitt, Notre Dame, Michigan State and Oregon. That list has been reduced by two.
"It is Notre Dame, Penn State and Pitt," Royer said.
