ESPN - Midwest Recruiting Blog
Quote:
In addition to the seniors in attendance at the Ohio State-Penn State game, many of the top juniors the Buckeyes are pursuing were also in Ohio Stadium Saturday night. Among them were the top two linebackers in the state of Ohio, Jamel Turner (Youngstown/Ursuline) and Jordan Hicks (West Chester/Lakota West).
"The atmosphere was nice," Turner said. "The fans were really into it. They make it tough for the visiting team."
It was the first time Turner has been to a Buckeyes game in the Horseshoe.
"I didn't think it would be that loud," Turner said. "It was real loud. All the red was sweet. The crowd was what I liked most."
Turner had previously attended the Michigan at Notre Dame game, the Michigan State at Ohio State game and the Michigan at Penn State game.
"The atmosphere at Ohio State was by far the best," Turner said. "At Penn State it was good too. But Ohio State was best."

Rivals.com Prospect Rankings
Jamel Turner
Youngstown (OH) Ursuline LB6-3/210 list
As a sophomore had 94 tackles, 31 tackles for a loss and 23 sacks. Is regarded as the top overall player in Ohio for the 2010 class. Has a great frame that will allow him to bulk up in college and is a threat as a speed-rusher when he puts his hand down on the line of scrimmage.

FVSports - The Elite100: Class of 2010
Quote:
14. Jamel Turner
6'3" / 210 pounds / Linebacker / Ursuline Academy / Youngstown, Ohio
Contenders: Ohio State, Notre Dame, Illinois, LSU, Michigan
Scouting Report: Explosive edge rusher, one of the most productive at the high school level in a long time. Plays defensive end, but will be forced back to outside linebacker because of his frame. Has a good base and wide shoulders, so he should be able to get in the 230-240 range by the end of college. Elite level first step up field, pretty impressive change of direction and lateral agility in space, which will help him transition positions. Possesses the best closing speed of any defensive player in this class. Good fundamentals, has already developed a few go-to pass rush moves. Holds his ground against bigger linemen at the point of attack. Hasn't played much out of a two-point stance or shown much in coverage, may have a bit of a learning curve. Would really fit best in a 3-4 scheme, or at least one that mixes fronts. In this age of versatile pass rushers, Turner has that game-changing ability that every program looks for.

Glad he decided now instead of waiting until later. Our coaches probably would have spent meaningless time trying to lure him to Happy Valley. He had no interest whatsoever.
